he was managing minutes like I said. Regular rotations and this game would've been a blowout. How does that hurt my argument when that's what i said in the first place. Don't tell me y'all were actually worried. We shot the ball like crap and still won easily. I'm more concerned about playing worse on the road. Our last 4 game losing streak started on the road. We got a lot of role players. Home court helps a ton.
It was said multiple times earlier in the thread, Pop panicked in the third quarter and put Manu in. Turns out it was the correct decision since this game was much more winnable than tomorrow night will be.
I saw what you saw.
I think Mills was there bc he had the hot hand early and no one else was hitting the long ball tonight until the second half I think.
I personally thought Dejounte was fine and could have played more but the game was too close and once Pop decided to play Manu he went all in.
We should be glad Manu's good game wasn't wasted and that Lamarcus eventually poured over 30+ pts to pull this one.

You literally said "light jog". Folks don't play over 35 minutes on Spurs' light jog games. Stop being such a homer son, it's annoying.

let him be homer... too much hating here.
I like the positive he brings.

YOU DO YOU raybies.![]()
That may be the case, but getting Manu just one half of work is a win in my book. Could of been by design too. Let the kids play and see if they can stretch it and give Manu a rest and if they can't put him in. I don't remember a time when Pop brought someone in that he wanted to rest. That's why I lean with the idea that Manu was gonna play if he had to. The bench wasn't getting it done so he brought him in and he closed. If he was really planning on resting him let's see if he plays tomorrow.
lol Manu -2
Murray +11. At what point does it stop being a small sample size?
I'm a pretty positive poster, tbh. I just don't dig this whole "everything the Spurs do is perfection" thing.
always a good time to be grateful for HOTS wolverine like recovery.![]()
Rudy had 16 minutes. He's been averaging like 25-26 a game. Manu had 16 and didn't play till the second half. Starters played about average except Anderson really, but he's young. LMA has been playing that many minutes on back to backs this season if I remember correctly. Not being a homer just calling what I see. The rotations were different, everyone played, and Manu didn't come in till the second. Yes I would classify that as a light jog. A more strenuous activity and the three reasons I stated would have been nonexistant. Don't let Dennis' late game barrage that had no impact on the game make you think this game was in doubt.
Yeah, no way can the Spurs beat Minnesota...
Three games today. How does Game Time start it's show? With plays from 2 of the winner and one from the Mavs, of course.![]()
got you.
I am with you though but I am not bothered by raybies.
I do think Pop didn'tplan to play Manu here, and that he wanted to play the young guys more. Midway through the game panic mode set in, he started benching guys and that is how you end with:
LMA - 36 mins
Fathead - 34 mins
Mills - 30 mins
LDN - 27 mins on a bad hamstring
plus having to play Manu in a B2B if he doesn't sit tomorrow. What do you think?
i ain't bothered. figured i read enough takes, I'm gonna speak my mind too and let the more persuaded people have a choice in what they want to believe. better than everyone Letouches this Porker that
They can obviously, but it's a much harder game than Dallas should be (should've been).
Spurs by 7
When did I say this game was ever in doubt? I'm just saying this was far from a light jog. The Bulls game, that was a light jog.
Gay played that little because he sucked tonight, simple as that.
Manu wasn't planned to play and had to play 16 second half minutes. i don't remember the last time he played that many minutes on just one half.
That alone tells you this game wasn't by any means a "light jog".
I'm more worried about the bench and the role players. Rudy is gonna have to be big and I think that is why he was limited in minutes tonight. LMA has been pretty consistent so I'm counting on him. Typically Spurs wins have required big contributions from at least 4 people so I wonder who is gonna step up for us to have a chance.
Barely able to beat the Mavs... This team is straight trash
(1)I don't think that's Pops style to not play a rotation player because he sucked. When has that happened to an important player? Rudy is the second best player on the Spurs right now imo.
(2) I think they planned on playing him if they had to. . Not Pop's style to play players he planned on resting. When does he do that? From my point of view I don't remember a time that has ever happened.
(3)The Bulls game was taken more seriously than this game. Didn't we have regular rotations until the blowout?
Interesting takes raybies.
Pop didn't want to throw this one and was ready to play manu if he had to, which he ended up having to.
He would have liked for the roleplayers (he even played Davis) to shoot better like they did in the Bulls game, but this was a close game and if the long ball wasn't falling he wasn't tolerating mistakes. Rudy didn't have a good game, definitely. He tried to post up midgets by design and got two offensive fouls called, and he passed up some shots from range. He seemed out of it offensively. Pop wasn't ready to make this one of those games Rudy is known for where he goes 5-17 or some . Kyle is very young as you said, and he was tenacious on defense here, plus I think he has better chemistry with Lamarcus and Pop wanted everything run through him or through a PnR pretty much. and guys played a slow game (light jog) by design. Slow, grind out game, everything through the post, classic Pop.
I'll just have to agree to disagree with DAF... But Kyle deserves a lot of credit. He's been playing like a veteran. The Mavs casters said,"He must be an old soul, cause he's young but plays like a veteran." He's a solid 3 in this league and with Patty starting the point it really helps him shine cause he can play point and he has the spacing. His decision making has been really good but I wonder how far from prime kyle he is. He's not an explosive scorer or anything. He's got this like tortoise and the hare style to his game. I'd imagine he'd be a longtime rotation player.
