its not a privilege matter. its a common sense matter. starbucks, through their business model, has created that atmosphere, and its not uncommon for people to meet there for various purposes.
while i'll agree that they should have either ordered something or left when pressed about it, they shouldn't have been pressed about it unless the cir stances called for it (exceptionally busy day, scarce seating for paying customers, etc)
I have waited to meet people in restaurants and coffee shops and not bought anything without incident. They should have been able to as well.

I think they intended to escalate the situation as soon as the manager confronted them. Both sides probably handled it poorly, I will give you that.

i dont think having them thrown in prison for a few months would be doing anybody any favors
i really dont think it was that traumatic. and when the cops showed up, they should have just walked out.
