I don’t think even the most extreme laker hater would expect them to be this bad at the beginning of the season. I had them around 3rd or 4th seed in the west. Maybe 5th. They proceeded to crash like a helicopter on a foggy day and will finish 11th in the west.

Lebron missed about 20 games and Giraffe Davis missed 40.
Much as i think Davis is an overated , with what Lebron the GM assembled around them it's no real surprise at their record.

They could lose Monk who is easily their third best player, as well as keep Westbrook (which would make re-signing Monk difficult). If I'm the Lakers I'm releasing Westbrook and stretching him so I have the full MLE to spend and hope I get someone decent and run LeBron and Davis back one more year. They really don't have any other options and I don't buy this idea that they should be worried about future flexibility more than next year. They already made their choice in mortgaging their future, can't go back on it now, they have to be concerned about next year.
