Literally the only way for PtR to be correct is to make a hot take two years late.
WELCOME TO 2016 PTC!
Not long ago, Danny Green was one of the league’s elite 3-and-D wings. He combined with Kawhi Leonard to create a fearsome, versatile perimeter defensive duo while his dead eye three-point shooting nearly nabbed him a Finals MVP.
But over the past three years there has been a clear decline in Green’s impact on the offensive side. That, combined with a system change that demands more than just standstill shooting from wings, has sapped the value of one of the Spurs’ longest tenured players.
Green is still an above average defensive player, at worst. That makes him a rotation player in the league. The question now, as he could enter free agency, is whether he can be good enough on offense to remain a part of the Spurs’ core.
Green is not longer a plus on offense
The decline of Green’s impact on offense over the past three seasons cannot be denied. In his first four years as a rotation player, he was a definite plus despite never being a versatile piece. Green rarely crashed the offensive boards or set up his teammates with his passing. His drives were always wild and his pull-up from mid-range teased but never became consistent.
What made him valuable was his elite three-point shooting. In that span, Green never shot under 40 percent from behind the arc despite firing, on average, close to seven threes a game. He didn’t just feast on corner threes, either. A big percentage of his outside looks came from above the break and the lowest he shot on those was 39 percent over that period.
Since then, his shooting has regressed enormously. In the past three years Green has shot a combined 36 percent from outside, just about the league average. He bottomed out in 2015/16 when he shot 33 percent before bouncing back the next year and shooting 38. Last season, that number dropped again, this time to 36 percent. The number of attempts per 100 possessions also dropped considerably. That wouldn’t have been a problem if he had developed other offensive skills, but he hasn‘t. His assists and offensive rebounding remain mediocre for a guard while his field goal percentage on two-pointers has steadily declined. Green is still not a reliable mid-range shooter. He’s a terrible inside finisher who failed to eclipse 51 percent on shots within five feet of the basket last season — a ghastly percentage.
Every composite advanced stat (be it Offensive Box Plus Minus, Offensive Real Plus Minus, Offensive Win Shares or Basketball-Reference’s Offensive Rating) suggest Green is at best close to neutral and more likely detrimental to the offense. Watching him play won’t do much to dispel that notion, as he either can’t get shots up or misses the ones he takes more than he should. Green is not involved enough or disastrous enough as a shooter to actually tank the offense on his own, but he doesn’t help it much anymore.
Too much copy pasta for a day this is the whole article https://www.poundingtherock.com/2018...agency-shooter

Those gots need to read my posts. Maybe then they'll be up to date. Been getting since Day 1 over this scrub, but now it seems everyone is acting like they've known he's been cancerous for awhile
In other words, he sucks.
And I hope he opts out.
I don't understand where this guy's jumper went. He's still a strong enough defender to get major minutes, but if he can't shoot, then it's hard to play him. I do think that if we are to beat GSW next year assuming we get Kawhi and assuming we stop dreaming about Lebron (who isn't coming here), then we will need a defender like Green has shown himself to be. You can't just outscore GSW, you have to defend and specifically, you have to be able to defend using switches. Green is the type of multi-positional defender you need against GSW. But the down side is they don't have to guard him on the other end.
I mean, those ers wrote about 50-Mills being a member of the team’s Big Three w/ Kawhi and LMA. OMFG
RIP LDN.
This is all I need to know about him now:
HoF gif
He should look for greener pastures somewhere else... even his defense isn't that great anymore. After getting that home discount contract (okay), his game has gone south of the border - back to D-League days or worse(?).
Don't understand? All you need to understand is that this is a guy who spends every minute in the offseason- from the moment the season ends to when the next one begins - partying and hopping from club to club on a nightly basis. The guy doesn't work on his game.
The problem with Green was the people weren't content with him making 3s anymore and 3 years ago asked him to develop into a player who could create his shots as well. So he started doing things he just can't do. That destroyed his confidence and game. He should have stayed a 3pt shooter and Dwing
PtR could be wrong
I'm so proud of Danny. He played great for Raptors last season and it seems like he adapted so well to these Lakers. 28 pts .78% 3P tonight...Best Laker in the game.
Danny was the Lakers best player tonight. Probably the best regular season game I’ve ever seen him play. Dude even set an all-time Lakers record tonight...Wild.
As soon as LDN left the Spurs he rediscovered his game (and then some)...
He not playing with Patty and old Parker anymore.
Good point
Anyway, Danny's playing amazing since preseason and I'm so happy for him.

Proud of Danny. Had a of a game
Lol apologists not wanting Danny anymore yet want to extend Derozan. Danny would have looked better next to DJ and White making plays for him
In a month, he's going to say Vogel is the best coach he's ever had. him, tbh.
Don't blame him for getting paid but he looks so much like a role player on a LBJ Eastern team.
Only a true dumbass like you would take what he said out of context.
You just like gunning for me now, don't you lol.
