I really, really hope the 2nd year is only a small guarantee. This year does not matter too much in the scheme of things, but next year does.

Pay him 30M this year, I don’t care just don’t clog up cap space next year.
That's probably what this is. Similar to the Favors and Bradley contracts.

If this is the case though, then why wasn't this logic applied to Belinelli?

As a fathead hater, I'll say without no hesitation:

Only way to justify any of this is if we trade Mills.

Let’s be real though, there’s no justification. Just a bunch of ty decisions.

What a ty roster during Aldridge remaining years. Patty, bertans, gasol and Forbes

I would ask to be traded if I'm LaMarcus tbh

All I can surmise is that the Spurs are trying to prioritize cap space next summer and especially in 2020. Anderson at $9M is a far better deal than Bertans + Beli at $13.2M.

Look, the issue is not the players overall but the length of the deals. If it’s one year it makes perfect sense.

But if it’s not? We know this team was a low ceiling team last year. Why would anyone deserve raises and why would you invest more into that team with no ceiling regardless of Kawhi?

Even if you got good assets for Kawhi, those pieces aren’t worth raises to keep around more than one year. Spurs are paying more money, as things stand now, for A WORSE TEAM.

Expecting any different. Last year's offseason showed us what their priorities are: "Culture" and "continuity", even if that means continuing this show of mediocrity.

If you have Kawhi then it made perfect sense. But now we have another year of data, we don’t have Kawhi and flexibility is key moving forward.

Beli & Bertans 2nd year details will be huge. Forbes deal will be sub 3M (god I hope) so I’m not worried about that one as much.

    According to Pincus, it's a player option . . .
