He was getting access to the young Team USA talent (16 and 18 & under crop) since he took over duke recruiting has easily surpassed Kentucky especially the past 5 years.

Yeah, he's done pretty much a perfect 180 on the 'one and done'. He was SO angry when some of the early players left Duke before graduation, like Corey Maggette. Now, he's nothing more than Coach Cal II.

I don't really care why he did it. Whether he did it to pad his resume, to help Duke recruiting, or a little of both...it's narcissistic af. It also wouldn't shock me if the only reason he "stepped down" is because Silver had to ask him to after Pop and other NBA coaches asked the commish why Coach K was treating it like a lifetime appointment. That his own peers had to bring it up because he didn't have the awareness to let others have that honor speaks volumes about what a got he is.
The players could have coached themselves and still won 3 gold medals. He's ing delusional if he thinks he was the difference.
