Dallas sportscaster Dale Hansen calls out hypocrisy of Jerry Jones’ anthem policy

Last week, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said that his players would not be afforded the opportunity to remain in the locker room for the national anthem, regardless of what the league's policy stated. Jones said he expected all his players to "stand during the anthem, toe on the line."
The NFL has since reportedly told Jones to stop making statements on the anthem as the league and NFLPA work toward an agreed policy. Yet, while Jones likes to present such a high regard for the anthem, Dallas WFAA sportscaster Dale Hansen pointed out that Jones didn't follow his own words.

    Hansen said:

"Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had been talking this week about getting his football team ready to play in another Super Bowl. It has been 22 years since they have, and only three playoff wins in those 22 years. But Jones talks about that almost every year anyway. And he has been talking too much this week about all the problems the NFL is still having off the field.
"Jones and his son Stephen were saying the other day that any player who takes a knee and doesn't toe the line during the national anthem won't be playing for the Dallas Cowboys anymore. It's incredible to me that a player can beat up a woman and play for the Dallas Cowboys. A player can use illegal drugs, time and time again, and still play. But you take a knee to protest the racial injustice in America, and now you've crossed a line that he will not allow.
"Jones loves and respects the national anthem so much that when it was being played before the start of practice Saturday, he left his cap on. And when he was told about the mistake he was making, he still left his cap on.
"He who makes the rules apparently doesn't have to follow them."
The video flashed to a shot of Jones keeping his hat on during the anthem and having a conversation.

Back in September, Hansen delivered a powerful defense of NFL players protesting during the national anthem.

    Pe ion in embryonic stage:

National Anthem will be played directly after safety precautions are read on ALL US domestic flights.
Any Americans of note recognized by other passengers who have been on TV and on that plane not standing will be escorted off the flight by a US Air Marshall.

Otoh, hopefully Eric Reid learned the error of his ways though...he's actually a solid starter who could help a ton of teams out if he tones down the bs

Considering this whole charade started because of him, I'd say his unsuccessful foray back into the NFL despite all the social justice crusades is pretty ing relevant.

Ray Rice and Josh Brown are out of the league. Zeke was made a scapegoat on cir stantial bull evidence (which iirc even you agreed about), Reuben Foster's chick admitted to lying and now Shady's ex's story is full of glaring holes.

How about you just suit up and play the game you're getting millions to play, and save your social bs for twitter? I still don't get your fake outrage over all this, as Koreans have no dog in this fight. On the contrary, they used to be armed to the teeth fighting the blacks during the LA riots iirc

If you're in this just to troll Chris and the far-right wingers, then fine. But you and I both know whatever outcome comes from this does not directly affect neither of our demographics. Sure, the NFL went way overboard with their new anthem policy, but ask yourself why? Who is the primary paying NFL customer? I want 3 hours of football, with some beer, coke, and doritos commercials sprinkled in. I don't spend one of my 2 days off a week wanting to hear jigs complain.

Easy solution: NFL Redzone...no protests, no commercials, just football.

Did you give two s about National Anthem decorum before Kaepernick? How many times have you laid down a prop bet on Super Bowl anthem runtime? Amazing how people only became fake patriotic bags once black people started acting out.

I didn’t give a about the anthem then or now. If people want to take a knee fine. I also had no problem with the new anthem policy either. I don’t care because it doesn’t affect my football watching experience one iota. I just find it funny how sanctimonious people are getting over it. Acting like their entire ing Sunday is ruined over some guy taking a knee these are the same people who use national anthem time to go take a , or fast forward past it on their DVR, or make ing prop bets to keep that whole 3 minutes of time interesting, and NOW suddenly they’re ing John Wayne storming Omaha Beach because of black guys on their knee.

And I’m equally annoyed at people getting on Dak Prescott’s ass for him saying that he’d never take a knee. Clearly the protests are just attention whoring and basically useless. They take a knee to “protest” but won’t lift a finger to do anything to actually improve their communities, then talk about Dak for his legitimate reasons for respecting the anthem. I’m more annoyed by the hypocritical bull posturing all around than actually caring about the protests.

Dude the anthem thing is neither here nor there (you know i'm not one of these gung-ho jingoists). What annoys me is the time it takes away from the actual coverage of the game. Pick your favorite tv or radio sports show and instead of talking about the actual game they're now obligated to browbeaten to dedicate half their shows to social issues. the anthem, and all the same, the players' cause. Just play football, asshole
