Devin Nunes and his attorney could face court sanctions after
angering judges with ‘absurd’ filings

Nunes losing streak in court continues. A single count of his family's lawsuit stands:
https://www.courthousenews.com/feder...famation-suit/“Plaintiff cannnot rely on general assertions and must plead facts to support a finding of actual malice,” he wrote. “Even if a reasonable reader could find the challenged portions or implications of the Article to be false and defamatory, plaintiffs failed to plausibly allege defendants acted with actual malice.”
The only survivable claim from the lawsuit, according to the judge, was the article’s assertion that undo ented workers were hired to work on the family farm.
“Falsely accusing someone of knowingly employing undo ented workers is accusing someone of committing a crime,” Williams wrote. “To falsely accuse a person of an indictable crime is defamatory.”
One thing this country needs is tort reform where judges grant sanctions more frequently, and in extreme situations like these puts the plaintiff in jail for repeatedly abusing the courts. These Nunes lawsuits should be criminal offenses, all they do is waste taxpayer funded resources and jam up the courts.
Are custodial sentences enforced in civil court apart from contempt? Honest question, I don't know.
Seems kinda harsh, but I guess that's the point.

Nunes suing MSNBC over some Rachel Maddow said
he's had 3 defamation/libel suits tossed in the last few years already, including the one against twitter about the NunesCow account. at what point is this guy going to get on the vexatious litigants list?
Seems the most vociferous Trump supporters are unexplainably involved in the most lawsuits.... outrageous....
Following big daddy to the end.
All these court cases will never "Trump" FOX defending Tucker Carlson by basically saying everyone should know we use liars for our most popular News. A "News" channel wins a case by saying our employees giving news cant be trusted... only in these lying red team times...
I guess its expected from the red team so everyone should know.
That was your tact the very moment Trump whipped the dog outta Hillary Clinton..."Go after him and anyone that gets within 5 feet of him in a friendly gesture from this minute forward. Drive them into and then thru the ter. Bury 'em under a pile of paper & lawsuits so that never again will a smart ass mother er offin' the street in New York try and make President. That mother er. That was Clinton's gd spot! SOB!!!"
sounds legit
In other failed redactions, lawyers for Hearst and Lizza wrote that members of the Nunes family paid just $500 to their attorneys for the lawsuit.
"Plaintiffs' apparent lack of investment in prosecuting their own lawsuit was buttressed by their deposition testimony admitting they have not incurred out-of-pocket payments to counsel, with the exception paying $500 to former local counsel Joe Feller," the partially redacted section says.https://www.businessinsider.com/devi...cs-show-2021-8"Plaintiffs admit making no payments to Biss for his services in this lawsuit, and presumably Biss does not work for free," Hearst and Lizza's lawyers write. "This prompts the question of whether Plaintiffs are the real party in interest, particularly if they do not stand to materially benefit from its outcome."
'A disturbing ruling':
Legal experts shocked after court revives Devin Nunes' defamation lawsuit

was accused by critics of being a "fake farmer" because the family dairy was gone.
Nunes then bought a farm.

SLAPP him...
Nunes was going to be re-districted from a comfortable neo-fascist majority to one that was way more blue.
Nunes got gerrymandered to and back in California, IIRC...
COVID is going to keep hollowing out GOP strongholds. Be interesting to see how that shakes out over the next decade.
