Last Exit Off the Road to Autocracy
Taxes and health care aren’t the only things on the ballot.
Whatever happens in the midterms, the aftermath will be ugly.
polling suggesting a margin in votes cast for the House of Representatives of
seven or more percentage points — which would make it the biggest landslide of modern times. However,
gerrymandering and other factors have severely tilted the playing field, so that even this might not be enough to bring control of the chamber.
even if Democrats do climb that tilted slope, anyone expecting Republicans to accept the result with good grace hasn’t been paying attention.
if and when a Democratic House tries to exercise its powers, you can be sure it will be met with defiance, never mind what the Cons ution says.
it’s not hyperbole to say that if the G.O.P. holds the line on Tuesday, it may be the last even halfway fair elections we’ll ever have.
Everything we’ve seen says that Republicans will do anything they can to take and hold power, and
Tuesday’s elections may be the last chance to stop them from locking in permanent rule.
It’s not just tax cuts or health coverage, and anyone who votes based simply on those issues is missing the bigger story.
For the survival of American democracy is on the ballot.

brilliant
It's funny because Democrats cause higher taxes and job loss, so that's what the truck says. Pretty genius!
Once I saw this guy following Wendy Davis around with a sign that said "Wendy Davis wants abortion to be legal" and it was the funniest thing ever, because she does want abortion to be legal.

All the signs point to unpredictable outcome. -MSM
I swear that guy on the left looks like he has the 3723rd BMTS patch on
Close but too much green in the middle
Which is exactly what happened. I saw it first hand.
Called it. Fairly close, but still Representative Zweiner will be my Rep. Very proud of her, she worked her ass off for it, and is pretty sharp.
FiveThrityEight has been giving about the same range of between 30-38 net gains for Democrats for the last few months.
Current is 34-36 with the last few races still being counted.
Chairwoman Waters.
the brightest spot for Texas Dems was judgeships. 30 of 32 contested seats on Courts of Appeal went to Dems.
it was a good night for judicial reform.
one Harriws County judge who lost yesterday melted down and released everybody:
Needless to say - it was very tense here in FL - no one knew who was going to win. Most of the polls had Gillum ahead leading up to the election. People at work tense but all voting. Gotta hand it to Trump - he pulled DeSantis across the finish line. Surprisingly the Scott/Nelson race was closer than DeSantis/Gillum - I guess Floridians aren't quite ready for Medicare for All, $15 minimum wage and higher corporate taxes. And 2/3 legislature necessary for any tax passed
South Carolina voter told to remove 'Trump' shirt in order to vote: report
Dang topless people have to vote
