For the record, I think Avenatti's allegation really does a disservice to Ford. The last two women bringing the allegations against Kavanaugh have stories that are easily shot with holes. The Avenatti one is so over the top that it blares over the other allegations. I've said that Ford's allegation, while heavily flawed, at least passes the credibility test. The Avenatti one is so off the rails that it damages Ford's allegation by association. That's why the Dems were telling him not to do what he was doing, but like Trump, he's an attention .

Well you could not be more wrong. I've never been a fan of Trump. I never voted for him and specifically voted against him in the primaries and in the general election (no I didn't vote for Hillary either, I just wrote in a name).

Yep. People spend too much time attacking each other instead of focusing on the specific details of these accusations and whether they have legitimacy. It doesn't matter whether I voted for Trump or Hillary, that's not the question. What matters is how credible the accusations are and whether they are sufficient (because none of them have any convincing evidence to support them) to derail Kavanaugh's nomination.

I realize that they had no choice since they were the ones that got rid of the filibuster, so this is their only means of stopping the confirmation, but it may have destroyed this process going forward if it is successful. And either way, it creates a black eye on the high court. I'm not a big fan of what they are doing, though, like I said, they have no choice because if they let Kavanaugh roll onto the bench with no challenge, they will be toast in November.

This is just ugly as and we're going to have to figure out a way to prevent this kind of divisive partisan -slinging in future nominations for the health of the country. I don't see how we go back from this with the current system.

First step is to remove the President's arbitrary authority to nominate SC judges. I'd rather see a bipartisan panel nominate a group of potential judges and vet through all of them for the best and most agreeable candidate across party lines.
