To be fair, his wasn't the vote to push this forward. Had it being a 50-50 split, doesn't Pence get to vote to advance it anyways?

This is clearly up to the women in the senate. Up to Collins essentially.

I'm not sure, but this would be cool:

a high-minded but ineffectual harangue -- perhaps in the form of a "not qualified" rating -- is the more likely outcome. a speedy disbarment over fleeting words would be bad for the ABA.

Disagree. His temperament is that of a spoiled rotten, en led, brat who throws a fit when he doesn't get his way. That should matter for a judge on any level, let along the highest court in the world.

The brainwashed cult brain falls for anything. The brainwashed cult brain can only see what his cult dear leader tells him to see.
Are you calling Leland Keyser a liar? Are you saying the text messages the FBI obtained from McLean to Keyser do not exist?

Fun fact: McLean’s lawyer is David Laufman. He was the Department of Justice, National Security Division, Deputy Asst. Attorney General in charge of counterintelligence, cyber security, counterespionage and export controls. He sat in on the Hillary Clinton interview and was involved in obtaining the FISA warrant on Carter Page.

Kavanaugh's meltdown was truly pathetic and exposed a startling lack of judicial temperament, but the ABA should be wary to rush to judgment. that path leads to its own irrelevance.

one should't overread cloture votes. McCain voted yes on cloture and no on the ACA ban. One effect that had was to kill the bill definitively, the process has to start from zero.

Texas cops confiscate woman’s anti-Kavanaugh yard sign after GOP official has a meltdown on Facebook

As Dallas News reports, Marion Stanford put up a sign in her yard that shows a GOP elephant symbol shoving its trunk under the skirt of a girl who says “help.”

“Your vote matters,” the sign asserts.

On Facebook, Sid Miller, a Republican agriculture commissioner, called her out and suggested that the sign pictured Kavanaugh’s daughter.

‘This is in Hamilton, Texas and is

supposed to be Judge Kavanaugh’s young daughter

,” he wrote. “Notice my opponent’s sign in the background. The Democrat sleaze knows NO bounds!”

But Stanford contends that the poster does not depict Kavanaugh’s daughter.

There is no indication that the picture shows anything but a girl in pigtails.

Anger and retribution are very strong motivators .

Mitch McConnell is a political genius.
He used it on a black president and now the outrage towards Ford to motivate that base.

He also saw ahead of time that he could put pressure on Democratic senators in red leaning states so the quick K push came to be. He’s thoroughly understood midterm motivations. From way back.

Republicans vote. And he knows what drives them .

I'm actually not even mad about him voting to proceed. This particular vote of his was meaningless. He was moving forward regardless.

Say though, in the final vote both Collins and Murkowski vote no but Manchin votes yes and is the deciding vote, will hit the fan.

might as well switch parties at that point.

It really all comes down to Susan Collins. Flake is a "yes" vote. Susan Collins has cover to not be the deciding vote though because she and Manchin will vote as a bloc.

Nation’s Criminals Ask for F.B.I. Investigation Kavanaugh Just Got

WASHINGTON —In the latest controversy to envelop the Supreme Court nominee, criminals across the United States are demanding that their cases receive the kind of F.B.I. investigation that Brett Kavanaugh just got.

From coast to coast, perpetrators of crimes ranging from arson to bank robbery are arguing that,

if the F.B.I. investigates them at all, such investigations should be extremely limited in scope.

Harland Dorrinson, a criminal lawyer in Cleveland, said that his clients have followed the Kavanaugh probe “with great interest” and see it as “tailor-made” for the crimes for which they stand accused.

“My clients are asking that the F.B.I. investigate them for no more than five days and only talk to the witnesses I designate,” Dorrinson said.

“We think this could be a huge time saver for everybody.”

    One of his clients,

Denton Faldo, currently faces twenty criminal counts of cooking and selling meth,

but wants the F.B.I. to investigate only an unrelated speeding violation.

“It’s important that the F.B.I. wrap up this investigation by Friday and release me from jail in time for the weekend,” Faldo said.

“A man’s life is in tatters.”

The outrage was never against Ford. It was pretty clear something happened to her at some time. Unfortunately the people she said were there all said they couldn't remember it happening and the FBI couldn't find any corroborating evidence. The outrage was against the reprehensible behavior of the Democrats by resorting to total character assassination giving Senate "weight" to other clearly outrageous allegations from clearly unreliable sources that have all been walked back. Even the most hard core red pompom waver in here had to question the "rape gang" allegations from Avenatti yet Partisan Senators were echoing that bull like it was stone cold fact knowing it was bull . They just went way too far and I think it's going to blow back in their face.

    total character assassination
CC always duped by the Repug propaganda

K's so-called character SHOULD be assassinated and kept off SCOTUS. Should also be impeached for lying to Congress get his current judgeship.

CC of course, like a good extreme rightwing asshole, fails to mention K's repeated lying to Congress, and his nervous breakdown 8 days ago.

Warren noted these limitations and said the following (emphasis added):

“Senators have been muzzled. So I will now say three things that committee staff has explained are permissible to say without violating committee rules. …

    One:

This was not a full and fair investigation. It was sharply limited in scope and did not explore the relevant confirming facts.

Two: The available do ents do not exonerate Mr. Kavanaugh.

And three: the available do ents contradict statements Mr. Kavanaugh made under oath.

I would like to back up these points with

explicit statements from the FBI do ents —

explicit statements that should be available for the American people to see.

But the Republicans have locked the do ents behind closed doors.”
