For those that don't know; A cop got off from her shift, headed home and allegedly saw that her door was open, walked in and fatally shot a man in the dark, only to realize that it was actually his home. She wasn't immediately arrested, took 3 days, is out on bond after being charged with only manslaughter, despite apparent precedent for murder charges.

    "
"Guyger told investigators that she went to what she thought was her third floor apartment. Instead, the 30-year-old went to Jean's fourth floor apartment directly above hers. Guyger says the door was "ajar" and inside noticed "the apartment interior was nearly completely dark."

Believing Botham to be a burglar, Guyger says she gave "verbal commands that were ignored" then "fired her handgun two times," hitting him once in the torso. It wasn't until Guyger "turned on the…lights" and "called 911" that she realized she was "at the wrong apartment."
The family says Botham placed a red carpet in front of his door to distinguish his apartment from others.

-She walked up an extra flight of stairs; also failing to notice the red rug outside of his door, walked in, to a dark room, her eyes magically saw a dark figure despite having just walked in after being on a well-lit hallway, claimed that he ignored her warnings and then shot twice into the darkness.

-Police have been criticized for how they've handled the case; i.e not arresting her immediately, and releasing a report from a search warrant of the man's apartment where they found some weed.

-People believe that the officer may have been intoxicated but test results haven't come back yet.

one witness reported hearing a woman's voice saying, "Let me in! Let me in! [the officer]" Then they heard gunshots, after which one witness said she heard a man's voice say, "Oh my God! Why did you do that? [the victim]"

-Two witnesses said they heard banging on his door, meaning that his door was closed, and apparently unlocked.

-Online pictures have to lead to "social media theories" that they used to date, or knew each other and/or that she comes from a racist family, but his family denies the former and her family denies the latter.
