Poeltl is agile for a C, not a PF, in an era where most of them are big wings.
1) Gasol would have to be even more of a spacer on offense playing next to a rim runner, so it's not like they'd be tag teaming the offensive glass (nor would Pop allow that).
2) That's a chance teams would be willing to take in most cases because they know they'd likely exploit and outscore whatever they'd sacrifice. Teams would be licking their chops facing a Poeltl-Gasol front line.
Love how Pop treats Jabari![]()
no problem there, Gasol should only be getting 10-15 minutes a game anyways
Don't know if this is an "official" announcement or a complete one. But you are right - unless Pop is less certain about Murray than he seems... I am mildly surprised that Marco isn't in the lineup.
Is Pau involved purely out of ego? He seems like the guy who might be gone the soonest.
This is just plain crazy that he's destroying these other Spurs players in the roster.
Really?!? He's only two years removed from playing, looks like he's in great physical shape and is HOF level talent. I'm sure he could score on or "abuse" most big men in the NBA, but the rigors of an 82 game season are beyond his 41/42 year old body.
Also, he isn't going against Aldridge, Gasol or Poeltl in those clips. Pretty sure any of them would be more of a challenge....
It's just great to see Timmy still in shape and giving up his time to still help the Spurs Organization. The guy is all class and still one of my all time favorite players.
Jabari stays fishing for narratives
To be fair, both Blossomgame and Metu got some back on Timmy, too, and they're both young players going against a Top 10 (maybe Top 5) player of all time that's only recently retired.
Duncan still score in the NBA on half court sets and a few plays at a time. It's the running up and down playing back to backs, etc... that causes players to retire. Not sessions like the one above.
His right knee finally followed his left one, and I do not believe he could compete at NBA game levels, even in the half court. It was a little sad to see the last few months, plus playoffs, of his final season. He just had no lift at all. He went from not being able to jump over a phone book to not being able to jump over a piece of paper. I'm glad to see him working with the players, but that's half speed.
82 games, practices, full court, those are the things that kill your knees over the course of a season. Even at his age he could have a good day but would need about a week or two of rest before going at it again.
The SRV!
In a one on one half court setting tim will destroy anyone in the post. Its in a gym with no 3 second violation and fatigue not being a factor. Tim is a wizard on the block. He would destroy just about anybody but a handful of people on this earth.
Really didn't want to see this. In a direct compe ion, I thought Blossom did enough to earn a spot over Huestis, and I'm not a fan of Josh as the 15th man with the need for a guard. Maybe they consider Murray more of a defender than a PG anyway? I think it would be a mistake to put DeJounte in the same vein as a guy like Huestis or Green. Dude is a team defender like Draymond. Huestis may be able to check a player one-on-one, but his impact stats are just not on that level.
