So who will be the first cliff jumper of the season?
There's some in here already as you can see. It's classic ST. Overanalyzing, criticizing, etc...

Just enjoy the freaking game, it'll be a little bit before these guys get into a groove

we been saying this since manu decline. Simmons filles the role temporarily, but the only guy on the bench with potential to fill it now is lonnie walker.
well since it's preseason and jumping to conclusions is part of being a fan, and preseason is a time to be hilarious... I see either some lineup changes in the future or some trades. They need White to be better.

And frankly I now think that had Tony stayed, Pop would for sure have played him... angering people... but leaving me wondering what's up with White and Forbes.

Loved what Gay did. Liked Bertans' D and Murray's O. You can see the potential in the bench unit, though having Forbes in there instead of White (or a real play-maker) lowers their ceiling quite a bit. The starters look okay. Neither DeRozan nor Aldridge are playing at full tilt, and the team is built on them doing that. Gasol has been fine on both ends, but his ineffectiveness against smaller guys will continue to undercut the Spurs' attempts to win with size. They should still be a good defense this year if they run that unit, provided they are disciplined in defending the three.

White looks bad, but anyone can have a bad game. Him being the bench's constant was probably too much to ask. And he's not doing a good job at even being the PG. Hope for a better second half from him. If he can find some comfort, he's going to have a disgusting number of options on any given play. Bertans did a good job at helping of D, and with Poeltl, it's possible that unit isn't as bad on that end as we think. Would still like to see one of the smaller perimeter guys replaced by a player with real size and heft. We'll see if Cun or the other combo-forwards can make a case going forward.

Poeltl really fits the energy rebound role, like what I see.
yea... he would be much better with a good PG, but I liked both him and Davis... the guard play in the bench is poor.

Guess it depends upon whether Belli is the only under-par-defender in that line up, or we get Bryn, too. Poeltl looks good and Bertans is fine, too.

definitely downgrading my expectations. spurs will desperately need a defensive wing.

the team will be better with lonnie so there's that...

Very good rebounder and plays good defense. He will be a top 8 player for Spurs this year.

the ST Cliff Jumpers don't get the Summers off like the Spurs players do. There is no rust factor at all, they're ready to pound that keyboard anytime, open scrimmage, training camp, pre season, you name it.

Forbes shouldn't be there but of course, Pop will be always Pop. He'll choose to play Forbes over White or Walker.

Well, we're in trouble then, since DJ isn't really a good playmaker, least not yet. And White might not get the minutes alongside Yak. But he brings enough energy to prompt Pop for a switch between him and Pau in the SL, so he could play with DDR.
