of course, now that everybody’s copying Apple, you want credit for The Notch to go elsewhere.

my dad got one of these recently in china... pretty damn impressive

I had asked him for one too but as Nono stated the band support is kind of limited so it wasnt any good for me. usually the chinese phones with full band support are only slightly cheaper than international counterparts (like xiaomi mi 8, mi mix series, or one plus- out of those ill prefer one plus for the cleaner OS, but its not exactly a cheap phone at 500+)

at people arguing privacy here.. if you use free email and/or a smartphone you have no privacy, neither from beijing or DC

weren’t you gots mocking notches a year ago? Now everybody’s using it
    And it's stupid.

Stupid when Apple did it. Stupid when they're copied.

But that's only one aspect of the phone and hardly a dealbreaker. Just bad design.

I'm still rocking my notchless Galaxy S8 and I love it.

When you see selling for 1/10th the price of anybody else, you're the product, not the phone. You can all you want about Fapple, but they put their money where they mouth in that Cali shooting, just fighting off for everybody's privacy.

If it were up to Facebook, they'll happily subsidize a free phone, tbh...

And yes, Apple will allow access to iCloud under a lawful order, but users can and will disable iCloud. Google is deceitful as on that. You turn off "Location history" and it actually does not turn it off, lolz (see: https://www.cnbc.com/2018/08/13/how-...n-history.html).

That video supports exactly what I was saying... Apple business model is price gouging, walled garden, fiercely protect the brand and the third party ecosystem around them (not just repairs, go look at the MFI program) and spin to and back on every release.

But that actually is what enables them to have products they make their money on (some people would say make too much money on, but I digress), and why the user and it's data are not the actual product.

I'm not even saying Google or Facebook monetization of their users is a bad thing either, but it'd be ridiculous to deny it, or pretend that Google or Facebook are going to care or make a stand about your privacy, when that is where their money comes from.

    Eh

Yeah Apple doesn't make most of its money from data, but I wouldn't trust them either

Prism, China, they already have some skeletons in their closets tbh

I don't have a hard-on for Fapple either, tbh, like I said, they haven't innovated for since Tim has been at the helm. That is, however, one distinction from Apple and Google, etc.

I have Android phone/tablets too, tbh, not racist.

Android tablets are meh tbh. The only one I had was a Nexus 7 that crapped out with Lollipop update.
But again, Nexus and Pixel stuff are overrated garbage.

I've read that the latest Samsung tablets are good, but I think Apple is still the king when it comes to tablets.

What Android phone/tablet do you own?

Huawei is a private, employee owned company apparently. nothing to do with the CCP or PLA, no reason not to buy their phones

This kinda seems like a win on every level:
    Apple hurting this idiot's business
this idiot gonna try to cost apple some $$
some Mac users SOL, won't get their overpriced crap repaired
unofficial Chinese supplier getting shut down by US

Have a couple of Experia phones and tablets, Nexus 2012 tablet, Asus small tablet with Oreo, old Galaxy phone, a Hawei phone (don’t remember model, was pretty good a year or so ago), and I think that’s it.
