The lowered viewership has more to do with people cutting cable than anything. We can pretend it’s politics though. Most people watch streaming services now instead of cable

It might. Maybe they see the writing on the wall and figure they can retain viewers by appealing to their political anxiety. It works for cable news... they basically made politics a sport and have been doing an ESPN impersonation for almost 20 years.

I don’t think it has an effect one way or the other. Pretending that is the reason for declined viewership is funny to me thpugh

These are the same people who think the MTV Awards show had high ratings because they didn't bash Trump.

And what would attract them away from Vox.com, MSNBC, CNN?

It's funny that you don't think every fringe progressive opinion under the sun promoted by ESPN is great for ratings.

"Slowing down erosion" doesn't involve pulling people from other channels, it involves retaining current viewers.

So in summary, espn is hurting because of politicizing but politicizing is great for ratings

Eyeball test; they've been more of a presence. But Disney just bought them, so the contrast won't be there in some years, tbh.

Politicizing sports is not great for ratings. Why the would it be? There is a lot of minimum information politics people out there, not even speaking about one tribe abandonning you.

Their personality led idiocy is not doing great but Skip Troll dunks on the new Bomani show.
