When does everyone think our beloved private healthcare system is going to be able to sufficiently test people with symptoms?

our leaders dont care about testing anymore tbqh

they know most will get this so testing for this will be a futile job and waste of money (according to them) plus bad news for their reelections.

    testing is a joke now.

Plus if you don't have the coronavirus and you just have the common cold, and you go to a testing facility, you'll probably get the virus by standing in line with a bunch of infected people breathing on you. Just stay home till your symptoms go away if you're a healthy adult.

Which is why we need free public drive through testing like South Korea has. Instead of denial, denial, denial and testing and numbers suppression like Iran.

True, but if you're feeling sick and are a healthy non-senior citizen adult, why even venture out and risk spreading the virus? There's an 80% chance that your symptoms will be mild enough to just ride it out at home. If sick, serve your 14 day sentence at home until you're healthy or until you feel too sick to self preserve.

If you are sick and refuse to get tested, then self-isolation, "social distancing" is the best tactic, but very few people, esp low-paid hourly workers, can stay home because they lose pay, maybe lose their job, then their house, car, apt. There are about 50M Americas in dead-end, low-paid, hourly jobs.

"According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), 82 million people were paid hourly rates in 2018. "

I feel you. But if they go and get tested positive, they won't be able to go to work anyways. I'm surprised that number is only 50M btw. Seems like there are plenty more deadbeats than that.

Why get in your car and get a test? Are you serious? If I have a fever and a light cough I'd like to know whether it's something I need to be extra vigilant about should the SARSCov2 test come back positive.

Yes, I am. I'm going to take it for granted (for a myriad of reasons) that it is Corona. I'm gonna hunker down on the couch and time it out. & I ain't tellin' a soulPERIOD

Hence the need for temporary paid sick leave and a temporary universal basic income to encourage the sick to stay home. But we're just going to keep on like a carbon copy of Iran as we have been doing the whole year.

    They still won't test.

You're gonna put your faith in a gov't over a month's pay? You know how many hoops you'll have to jump thru to get that month of pay? From that moment on you're ID'ed as having (it) ever more.

    No- in'-way.

    your so-called deadbeats? holy ing

why do companies create so many ing deadbeat, dead-end, no paid sick time off, no vacation, stolen wages and unpaid overtime, no health insurance, etc,?

Those "deadbeats" Laborers, including illegal Labor loved by companies, are the ing bedrock of the inhumane, brutal Capitalism

1.5 trillion dollars in emergency liquidity farted into the hurricane to almost no effect.

Yet paying for school lunches for all US school children... to much of an ask.

Why can't the Fed buy up all the "toxic" student debt, like it bought all the BigFinance's toxic assets in 2009, and then refinance the student debt at 0.5%?

    or

why doesn't the Fed put all the student debt into a "bad bank" like the Fed did in 2009?

why not? Because BigFinance created, owns, and staffs the Fed for its won purposes. That the Fed is "independent" is bull

Didn't say they did. They injected that much in the short-term repo market. Just to be clear. Sorry to rain on your gotcha moment, if that was your intent. I understand the nuances, as does anyone with a degree in economics, like AOC.

My point, as well as AOC's stands though, in that we can find trillions to attempt to prop up financial markets, but suddenly can't seem to find the wherewithal to help poor kids.

That's just invented money that will ultimately be returned and removed from the Fed's balance sheet (in theory). If you want to give money directly to people you need a funding source (taxes).

Which will be a lot harder to do, because stupid mother ers cut taxes on the hyperwealthy when the economy was humming along.

Quite frankly though, at the moment the US government could probably loan money at negative interest rates and get away with it. Seems like a good funding source IMO, espeicaly one that offers a much greater chance at improving economic performance than giving massive amounts of money to people whose marginal propensity to save approaches 1.

... and mandatory paid leave will keep people who are living paycheck to paycheck at home, flattening the curve. Socialism FTW. Suck it.

Single payor would provide all manner of preventive/curative care, so that people who get sick, might have a chance to get health care to avoid spreading it, flattening the curve. Socialism FTW. Suck it.

"conseravtive" policies will kill people in pandemics. Capitalism kills. Suck it.

Lending $1.5 trillion of dirt cheap money to the banks is a handout no matter how much you slice it. The fact a bunch of rubes think the fed has literally given $1.5 trillion away doesn’t change that.
