Either that or create an army of replicants that will go out and kill Dem. voters, assume their iden y, and then vote red.

So we got 3 people that want to end the Electoral College because "other countries are doing it." Also ending the Electoral College is not radical because reasons.
Make it four. It's an outdated concept that should have been abolished years ago. The state's rights model it is premised upon began dying with reconstruction/14th Amendment and officially died with the expansion of commerce clause power in the 50s and 60s.

But you wouldn't have anything to say about this, would you?

    Let's unpack:

    - Green New Deal

I agree that her proposal is unrealistically optimistic, and most likely will never be introduced into law. That doesn't mean anthropocentric climate change isn't a real problem that, as I've stated in prior discussions with you about the topic, needs to be addressed sooner rather than later, per the consensus of the scientific community. Maybe conservatives can offer counter proposals rather than fear monger about banned air travel and cheeseburger confiscation.

    - Secure a living wage and tie it to inflation

Bad how? Minimum and living wage has not kept pace with inflation, while wealth growth among the top earners has outpaced inflation.

As I've said before. Supply-side economics had a 40 year trial. It did not "trickle down." Time to think up something new.

    - Enact a federal jobs guarantee.

A little over-optimistic, but could be feasible. We already have some form of a "federal jobs guarantee" in the American military, which is usually an option for those from low income backgrounds or those lacking a higher education who can't find a well paying job in the conventional private sector. But instead of wasting trillions on wars, silly fighter planes, and 600 bases around the world, none of which benefit Americans, we cut defense spending in half. Then we put that difference toward creating more domestic federal jobs that are centered on actually benefitting Americans rather than using that money to devise more ways to kill goat herders.

    - Rebuild our crumbling infrastructure.

This was a key selling point for Lord Trump during his campaign, promising to build infrastructure that is "second to none." Don't see any downsides here, except "concern" that it might bite into our defense spending budget (which continues to get near-trillion dollar bumps, while we have yet to see one dollar spent on infrastructure overhaul).

    - Block bad trade deals.

Also a key selling point during Lord Trump's campaign.

    - End tax loopholes.

No reasonable person would be against this.

    - End necessary wars and nation building.

No reasonable person would be against this.

    - Medicare for all.

I went into detail in prior posts how this can easily work (also, we can look at the successful implementation of this in other countries as proof of concept).

    - Free public colleges and trade schools.

Other countries employ this with success.

I'll cut it short, but I see nothing "radical" in any of the subsequent proposals, even abolishing ICE, which is just more government bloat (we already enough law enforcement agencies in the country).

Sound to me like the core objection to Cortez's platform is same as it ever was from those on the right: "More taxes! Y-Y-You m-m-mean I have to be a little bit more selfless so that my fellow Americans who weren't as fortunate as me can live a more flourishing life!? that. I need that extra 10K per year that will have no measurable effect on my standard of living since I want a new fishing boat! I earned it! Those people who can't achieve upward economic mobility are just lazy! BOOTSTRAPS!"
I really enjoyed reading all the well thought out and substantiated responses to this from the resident conservatives. They really brought the level of this conversation up a notch ...

If you tied mandatory legal citizen voter ID to abolishing electoral college, do you think Dems in Congress would support?
Assuming citizen's can get an ID free of charge, I'm fine with this too. Isn't this a problem with the EC currently? That system (EC) doesn't do anything to address "voter fraud"

The so-called "Cons utional" anti-democratic EC was designed/intended to disenfranchise voters who were feared/detested by the FFs and who had to be stopped (by the EC) from electing a candidate the FF white male oligarchy wouldn't like.

If the EC had rather elected two Dem presidents over popular-vote-winning Repug candidates, then all y'all Fox viewers would be screaming to kill the EC.

EC ain't going nowhere, since killing it would take a Cons utional amendment that would be voted down by red/slave states.
That's not at all true. The EC was ins uted to ensure that the agrarian states would have an equal voice in choosing the president vis-a-vis the more populated states. It's a federalism issue back when federalism mattered.

Because it has more people than other states you re ed monkey.
i thought each state should be equally though
So to be fair we should resize each state to be the exact same size of each other

that's the only way "one state one vote" would be fair. or the current senate for that matter.

the easier solution is just to go with popular votes

"I used to like the idea of the Popular Vote, but now realize the Electoral College is far better for the U.S.A."

"The brilliance of the Electoral College is that you must go to many States to win. The Cities would end up running the Country. Smaller States & the entire Midwest would end up losing all power - & we can’t let that happen."

But that’s demonstrably, even laughably, false. What the electoral college actually does, as we all know, is force candidates to campaign only in the tiny number of “battleground” states where the vote is close.

In 2016, the organization FairVote compiled a list of all the public campaign events Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and their running mates did in the general election and found that two-thirds of the visits took place in just six states (Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia and Michigan), and 94 percent of the visits went to just 12 states. Twenty-four states plus the District of Columbia got zero campaign visits. That’s what the electoral college does.

Larger cities located in so-called "Sanctuary States" win either way. They have larger populations because of illegal immigration and non-enforcement of Federal laws, so either way they retain power. Now that ICE is deporting illegal aliens like crazy and borders are being enforced, they want to flip the script.

This is the sore loser scenario which has been prevalent since 2016. "Oh we lost?" "There must have been some kind of collusion with Russia." "We must impeach" "Resist EVERYTHING" "Change the cons ution" "Embrace Socialism" "Lots of free and those greedy billionaires are gonna pay for it!" "Reparations; white privilege/white guilt" "Diversity" Obama promised lots of "CHANGE".

They didn't count on a home grown billionaire winning any kind of election. They had it IN THE BAG! Now, now we need to eliminate the Electoral College after their "insurance policy" caved in. No more "HQ Specials". No more "change."

Donald's ability to connect with Americans and go around Media has forced them to show their hand in a desperate attempt to retain power. The Democrat Party will sweep itself under the rug as it embraces it's new shiny apple from the Garden of Eden - Radical Socialism. This is the change that Obama hinted at. Keep in mind Obama was a radical socialist from Chicago.

The American public so willing to accept ANYTHING to despite Trump. God knows what they will do to regain power in 2020.

The electoral college became antiquated with 19th century industrialization. It became obsolete with the 14th Amendment and the expansion of Congress's commerce clause power. Points for coming up with a great conspiracy and using the electoral college as a part of your agenda and ideology. Awesome mask for your ignorance.

trump visited a total of 21 states in 137 rallies during the general election.

81 of those rallies (59.1%) were held in a total of 5 states (FL, PA, OH, NC, CO). those states represent about 19% of the total US population

that's the brilliance of the electoral college?
