I have an alternative: hire more immigration judges and lawyers to clear the backlog.
If we'd made a relatively modest investment in that 6 or 7 years ago, there wouldn't be a backlog or an urgent need to detain anyone.
I think further jamming up the courts with endless asylum cases by bussed in illegals is not the answer.
I do think all migrants should be treated with dignity. For example if one of the transves e illegal immigrants wants to come to the US and register on SpursTalk to root for the Lakers and Kobe or Stephon and the Warriors, sHe should be given considerations. However, I think providing internet access in the trannys country of origin or in Mexico is what should take place. Currently Mexico is simply facilitating the massive flow of illegals into the US. That's total b.s. and Don Haters have come up with zero, none, nada viable alternative.

Also, the government could cooperate with pro bono legal aid and social services a bit more closely to find alternatives cheaper and less politically fraught than detention, like appropriate placement with sponsors for refugees awaiting their hearing.

the law requires humane detention, if detention at all -- the law doesn't require us to take all migrants into custody, that's a choice -- and asylum hearings.
