at this spin from Magic. The Lakers didn't "pull out," they just have nothing but garbage to offer and refuse to sacrifice picks or cap space to make up for it.

Not true Russell became cap space, Kuzma and Lopez.
Giving up that many picks inhibit your ability to make further moves which makes eating Hill's contract much harder. They still need to fill out roster.
Pretty much.
DONE DEAL LMMMMMMAAAOOOO
Carl’s Jr. is gonna have to setup another lunch date with laker girls for their fans to get over this one

This is hilarious and THE LAKERS and all that, but is it really conceivable that Demps gets a better offer than that from any team?
is that real LMFAO!!!!
I know we give them , but laker fans can clean up nicely

Yeah to the best of my knowledge
Most teams could throw together a better offer than the garbage that the Lakers were offering.
I didn't know clippernation moonlights as a Laker fan.. Lol
Sure but would they, knowing Davis might not stay?
I think you're drastically underrating the impact of a true franchise player like Davis. And also LeBron. You think you're getting another LeBron in four years? Not a chance. Ingram's production could be replaced by an MLE signing in the offseason. Kuzma and Ball by ring chasing vets plus whatever they could get for Solomon Hill's expiring next season. Everyone is going to be dying to play in LA with James and Davis. Best and most visible market in the league and a real shot at a le? It'll be just like it was with Boston after they got KG and Ray Allen. Plus Davis gives you an amazing foundation for when LeBron retires and the next star free agent comes to take that salary slot. Giving away the farm (when it's a crap farm) for a franchise guy might not work in fantasy basketball but in the real world when the Lakers will be able to make up for that loss in free agency it's a no-brainer IMO. If Pelinka can get Davis without trading LeBron and he passes then he's insane, unless he already has an under the table promise from Leonard or Durant.
again you are still under estimating the importance of having picks. if the goal is just wining now, of course Davis makes sense at any cost. IF the goal is to eventaually win a le giving up four picks and limiting future flexibilty is not smart. We want les. not mediocrity. I agree getting davis is the harder part but I would take a lessor star that costs less over all of that plus four first rounders. Price may be cheaper next trade deadline if we exhibit some patience.
everyone on the Lebron is wasting a year, clock.
Franchise health is more important than Bron's legacy
All we need to do short-term is to convince rich Paul and Bron that we tried.
Melos shows how detrimental it is to do this kind of deal.
Knicks just gave up KP for pennies on teh dollar and Nuggs are second in the West ...
AD >>> Melo but everyone (lot's of people) was jocking Melo then too
did the big 3 celtics or big 3 heat need draft picks to fill out their roster? no. get the stars, ring chasers will follow
It's not about Bron's legacy. It's about trying to squeeze another le or two out of him when he's still a give him the ball and get the out of the way kind of guy who can carry your team to the top. You are so grossly overrating those first round picks. Let's look at who the Lakers drafted with their late first round picks in the Shaq/Kobe era:
1997 <no pick>
1998 Sam Jacobson
1999 Devean George
2000 Mark Madsen
2001 <no pick>
2002 Chris Jeffries
2003 Brian Cook
You're worried about losing fringe NBA players on guaranteed deals at the expense of getting you the guy that not only puts you in the spot to win les next year but is also a supreme building block for the future? That makes no sense. New Orleans would be getting raped in the trade you think is too much for the Lakers to give. If I can trade warm bodies for Anthony Davis I'm making that trade.
even they did not give up EVERYTHING for KG 5 players and two picks.
Pelicans want something like that?
Sure, no problem.
The Thunder weren't scared of that when they traded for PG. Same with the Celtics and KG. It worked out for both of those teams.
they were dealing for a KG who was already over 30 and a bit past his prime. AD hasn't even turned 26 yet. not comparable
An inept front office telling LeBron "well, we tried!" is what made him leave Cleveland the first time. That's the type of that might snap LeBron out of retirement mode and make him start demanding a trade.
Good for you.
I am not gionna eat a bad contract, 4 firsts and all 3 of Ingram/Kuzma/Lonzo .
They want four first then we keep some of the young guys or dont eat hill'scontract.
Not doing all of that sorry.
Oh well we lose Davis.
sucks but move on to Plan B or revist whhen there is only one year left.
Ill play with our scrubs ...
