Good question, and I haven't seen clarification on that yet.

I dont get how blOwU is above us? They are replacing their QB 4 of 5 offensive linemen their best receiver and they bring back one of the worst defenses in college football. How is that a top 10 team?

fragile D's or not, loss of starting QB and several linemen, along with skill guy or two, OU keeps reloading and winning the conference and making the playoffs.
Until someone unseats them, it's hard not to put them a little ahead of the rest of the group. And while Jalen isn't expected to win yet another Heisman for them, lot of people were busting on Kyler and saying the same about him last year (plus they had to replace several OL guys that year too, IIRC). Hurts also obviously has a ton of high-pressure experience.

hurts is not your typical "new QB" so that helps. still, one would have to think that the UT defense will be so much better than the OU one this season. in the end, the preseason ranking is a moot point.

There was an orange stripe on the helmet in the '50s IIRC. The Ohio St stripe looks goofy, IMO. If they have to do the stripe thing, a black stripe would work

yep.... so an orange stripe would work for everyone else. I believe this is one of the many things Herman brought from Urban Meyer while at Ohio st and that's not a bad thing. OSU doesnt have a helmet emblem per se so Urban used the stripe.
