OrangeBloods reporting Oscar Giles will be remaining on staff after interviewing this week.
Have we talked to him?
I haven't seen a word on him, but maybe Bloeddyr has.
I haven't either. He's just, IMO, the best RB coach at the collegiate level and since he was recently fired at UTSA, he's actually available.
Who has he coached?
This is what his Wiki page says about Frank Wilson.
In 2011, Rivals.com named Wilson the National Recruiter of the Year.[6] In 2014, NFL.com named Wilson the top recruiter in all of college football.[7][8] In 2015, Scout.com honored Wilson as the SEC Recruiter of the Year.[9] In 2015, LSU secured a Top 5 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. The achievement marked the first time since 2002–03 that LSU finished with back-to-back Top 5 recruiting classes in America. From 2011–2014, 29 LSU Tigers have been selected in the NFL Draft which ranks second to Alabama (30).[10]
Which is exactly why I think he's the best option. Everybody praised Drayton for his ability as a coach (his work with Zeke and Jordan Howard was highlighted) and his work with Roschon this year is remarkable. But it is also a position where you have the time to really be a difference maker as a recruiter. His resume as a recruiter is pretty much second to none in college football.
He did have a pretty good run with Stevan Ridley, Jeremy Hill, Alfred Blue, Spencer Ware and Leonard Fournette while at LSU.
Yet another reason to hate the Cowboys, not that I needed another one.
Hey Chris Del Conte, how about that “ We aren’t going to lose out on anyone over money” talk?
$225,000 to dominate DFW recruiting is peanuts in the grand scheme.
The irony - dirty schools spend $225,000 on individual recruits. Texas refuses to spend $225,000 on 1 coach who can bring in multiple recruits of that elite talent level.
From a profitability perspective it’s better to spend that $$$ on talented clean coaches rather than spend the $$$ on individual recruits (like dirty schools). That’s if the the talented coach can bring in the elite talent with fair play
Oh, man, Kiffin and Leach in same state.
I will be surprised if this works out. Epps doesnt have the build or the mentality to be a blocker against mean defensive ends - just dont see that working out. It could be like Finley where they called him a TE but he never really was a TE. He was just a tall, slower receiver
Needs to gain some damn weight and play with some emotion to be even decent. Truly we should go after muhammed
edit: sorry I saw emotion when he played Rice, maybe/hopefully Mehringer was the problem
