I would say our offense with Andrew Beck was a glimpse.
We were still not good at running the ball outside of Ehlinger.
But people said we were back. Whatever back means.
Im defining back as winning the conference because of depth on the roster.
We need to get back to churning out OL and RBs like we did in the 90s and 00s. We also need to start recruiting more TEs. Under Mack we had some very good TE play.

We also need to get back our great ST play. We used to be outstanding in that phase, but lately we have been worse than mediocre, aside from Michael son.

How many teams are great at both throwing and running? Notice that Bamas run offense has struggled as their pass offense has flourished. Look at their offensive linemen, they have changed as they have moved towards a strong passing offense. Mack Brown's biggest failure as a coach was thinking his pass offense could just change into a run offense just by calling run plays. We didn't recruit the offensive linemen to effectively run block, our guys were smaller, quicker and much more adapted to pass protection. They weren't built to moving someone out of the way.

If you want an effective running game and passing game, you are going to have vastly superior linemen, they don't grow on trees. Some guys are built for run blocking, some are built for pass blocking, very few are built for both. We are going to have to pick one or the other for the most part. At some point, our recruiting will get to the point we can get those linemen that big enough to be great run blockers and quick enough to be great pass blockers. You will know when we have those linemen, you will start to see them drafted in the first three round of the NFL Draft.

So that leaves TE on offense. Defense needs DT and LB. Then we needs ST and Recruiting Coordinators. So, 5 more positions to fill, at least with lead guys. I am not sure who will get assistant coaches under them.

So it’s not a foregone conclusion he goes to the pros?

I honestly don't know what is the biggest factor in his decision, but 24/7 reported over the weekend that the Cowvoys aren't offering him nearly as much money as the $525K he makes at Texas.

I haven't seen what the Rams are offering.

Per OrangeBloods, the leading candidate to coach LBs at the moment is South Carolina's Coleman Hutzler.

Not a bad little resume. He could also help us on ST, since we suck mucho in that phase.

Not surprising. It would have been a weird move by Kane.

What are we thinking? LSU or OU?

As someone who's seen a quite a bit of South Carolina these past few years (I've always had somewhat of a soft spot for them), I'd say this would be a great hire. He seems to be a solid recruiter as well (24/7 has him as the primary recruiter for 2019 5-star Zacch Pickens as well as top 100 LB Mohamed Kaba in this years class) which is another plus.

I saw a stat somewhere that South Carolina has been ranked in the top 10 in ST these past two seasons under Hutzler.

Based only on our last game we are a top 25 team.

on another note, I wonder if King is worried about how many hours from Houston transfer to his new school.
Love to see a college counselor going through that with the student athletes.

Im not tracking on King to know if he is a grad transfer or a regular transfer. To me that would make a big difference on where he goes. If he has to sit a year then OU and LSU may have Young starters by next year.
