To me, Verlander pitched a good game and should have been pulled after 6 complete at 2-2. He's 36. Also, the two out *single* that pushed it to 4-2 was obviously an error on Bergman, not a hit. Would have been 3-2 and still a dogfight.

    1)Astros haven't challenged Nats bullpen

    2)Not clutch - runners scoring

3)Houston's HOF hasn't so far out pitched "the Nats"

This isn't bad news for them. They'll be thankful for it because apparently they dont have the balls (No pun intended) to tell Alvares to take a seat.

It's an exciting match-up for the purists, apparently not for the general audience though.

Greinke pitching well so far and the Astros aren't having trouble getting offense. This might turn into a series.

Not when the nationals can put up 3-4 runs in half an inning. The Astros might win 1 game out of this series.

Astros making clutch pitches in leverage spots. I think we have a series again. Could see it going 7 since Cole and Verlander aren't likely to pitch that poorly again.

The pressure to hold the lead when you have to win is going to test the Astros bullpen

Good by the Astros bullpen tonight. Osuna still has to pitch but if he chokes it's not their fault.

I could see Cole going Madbum this series. Game 1 was still a bit of a fluke until the Nats can prove they can get to him again. If the Stros win tomorrow, Cole pitches Game 5 and probably closes out a potential Game 7 on the back of a Greinke 5 inning start. Series just got fun. Even if the Astros lose, they still have another Gerritt Cole start in their pocket at the very least. Then Verlander for Game 6.

Eh, at this point Verlander shouldn't be counted on. He's been mediocre outside game 1 against Tampa. The Astros bullpen came through against the Yankees so they might be up to the task again.

Yeah, Verlander's been shaky, but I think he's got one more classic performance in him. Hopefully the Astros figure it out, this series deserves to go 7. I'd love to see a game 7 situation when it's 2-2 in the mid-innings and Scherzer and Cole come out of the pen.

Nats are really crumbling. A lot of terrible at bats. Urqidy and Harris were solid, but they left a lot of hittable pitches.
