First off, I discovered it was all fake at around 12, saw a match from Fresno TV on a Wednesday, on Thursday we went to Modesto to visit some relatives, they got Sacramento BIG TIME WRESTLING. It was Sir Alan Garfield vs Danny 0' Rourke...again...and hold for hold, punch for punch just like on Wednesday from Fresno. I never did tell granny, it would have broke her heart she loved the rasslin'. , what if she'd fell over dead hearing that? Her fav was Pepper Gomez.
Anyway....
As we all know it's a lot like a soap opera, the movies, just a show, nothing real about it other than what it taKes to pull it off.
There have been tons of footballers, weight lifters, power lifters, in the rasslin' biz.
Trying to say it doesn't take legit athletes to make it work in that biz is simply wrong. Old ladies can play golf, that is a sport. Who can't drive a car, NASCAR is a sport (yes yes I know) tiny little guys as jockies, skinny little guys as distance runners. Compare any of them to these two when it comes to athletes.

Pro wrestling is a misnomer. It requires some athletic ability, sometimes a lot, but there's no compe ion so no sport. It's a skit.
But there is compe ion.
All these guys come in wanting to main event WRESTLEMANIA, make the big $$$$$$$$$. They are competing to be the best in the biz, be a Champion.
and tom cruise is a secret agent because he stars in mission impossible movies
i mean he does his own stunts so clearly its the same! and there are thousands of actors vying for these great roles
It's cinema. No compe ion, no sport. The end.

Great athlete putting their bodies on the line, that took months to train for, all trying to out do the other and get that big $$$$$$$$$, yep....sport.

They're uber-athletic, but sport involves real compe ion.

A rehearsed spinoff of mat wrestling (the compe ive sport) but instead takes place inside of a ring and is arguably more deadly/dangerous than any contact sport despite being labeled as "fake" by people who dislike it.

Then stunt guys are also athletes and being a stuntman is a sport.

I liked it when I was a kid but I still label it fake.
It's a performance of simulated combat like a Starwars or superhero movie. No one calls those real. This coming from the Pro Rasslin Expert.

the "compe ion" doesn't occur during the actual wrestling "match" though. you're conflating two different things
