I believe every dollar Pau gets this year up to the $5M comes off the Spurs books.
Nope. Set-off in the NBA is half of all the money you earn over the min. So if for example a guy gets a deal for $5.5M, his previous team would save $[(5.5-2.5)/2]M=$1.5M

But Pau agreed to a buyout, and that almost always includes the releasing team's waiver of set-off rights. Mostly likely, whatever Gasol gets this year, SA doesn't save a cent.

That may seem dumb for them to give up set-off rights for only $1.8Mish in savings, but they weren't likely to save a cent this summer had they waited until now to just release Pau. He's almost certainly going to get a min deal if that, and that would mean zero set-off. PATFO did an okay job getting a bit back by moving Pau early. Saving grace.

Demar has reached out to Cousins per Shams on NBATV
He played hard in the finals. I would give him a shot. I doubt Pop wants to deal with him though. OMG could you picture him in the coffee gang

I'd be all for it too. He could finally play on a winning team with a good system and culture. Pop can handle him and teach him how to be a winner. We took on Rudy when he was considered a cancer, why not Boogie

Maybe they're trying to pick a team for Cousins to sign with/DeRozan to be traded to?

Real-talk: The talent infusion would be nice, and because of the limited money SA has, they literally can't sign Cousins to a deal that would hurt them. I'm not sure if he fits, but he could probably help a team in the right roll if he ever gets his head on straight.

Boogie is a huge got tbh. Wouldn't mind him but he could easily derail a season if his toxicity spreads in the locker room. Not sure Pop would want a player like Boogie rubbing off on our young players.

Cousins coming to Spurs would make me forget nephew. Lakers would have a depleted team even if they get nephew. 7 games Spurs beat them. Come on RC/Pop.

he's much better than milutinov btw...
He looks like he would type cast in a Russian prison movie. Beyond that he rolls to the basket well and could be a rim protector if refs don't call cheep fouls on him.

What good is it for a player to reach out to a free agent if the FO is not trying themselves? All joking aside, he'd easily be the best C on the team. An upgrade imho..

maybe timmy / david could help cousins mature... not sure if he’s had big men of that caliber have influence on him in his career while with other organizations.

I posted a day or so ago that I actually wouldn't mind Cousins. He has to get 100% healthy though. He won't demand a lot money because of his recent injuries and his performance somewhat so if you can get him for cheap, why not?

What happened to Boogie's outside shot? He was a lot better potential fit when that was falling.

To be fair with DMC, he's being nice lately.
I won't mind him for a decent deal - who knows, it might be a high reward.
