Bernie Sanders Is Right About Biden's Record on Social Security
According to a 2019 Pew Research survey, 74% of Americans say Social Security benefits “should not be reduced in any way.”
Bernie Sanders attacked fellow candidate former Vice President Joe Biden for his record on Social Security,
claiming Biden’s support for cutting the popular program makes him less electable.
The Sanders campaign followed up the next day in an email newsletter to supporters that said,
“In 2018, Biden lauded Paul Ryan for proposing cuts to Social Security and Medicare.”
The Intercept’s Ryan Grim, however,
Biden’s record on Social Security is far worse than one potentially misinterpreted remark.
Indeed, as Grim lays out,
Biden has been advocating for cuts to Social Security for roughly 40 years.
In 1984, in the midst of President Reagan’s frenzy to cut the federal safety net,
Biden worked with Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley
calling “for a freeze on federal spending and insisted on including Social Security in that freeze,”
which even the Reagan administration was against.
Biden continued to make similar pushes for cuts over the years.
This included in 1994, after Republicans won both chambers of Congress, when Biden joined his GOP colleagues in calling for freezing federal spending.
His general advocacy for budget austerity made him a leading combatant in the centrist-wing battle against the party’s retreating liberals in the 1980s and ’90s.
‘When I argued that we should freeze federal spending, I meant Social Security as well,’ [Biden] told the Senate in 1995.
‘I meant Medicare and Medicaid.
I meant veterans’ benefits.
I meant every single solitary thing in the government.
And I not only tried it once, I tried it twice, I tried it a third time, and I tried it a fourth time.’
(A freeze would have reduced the amount that would be paid out, cutting the program’s benefit.)
According to his current campaign website, Biden now supports expanding Social Security.

Biden’s Pack of Lies About the Iraq War
While Biden and his surrogates like John Kerry continue to falsely claim that he was not for the Iraq invasion,
the Sanders camp has rightly highlighted more do entation,
including video, of his support for the Iraq invasion after it happened, like
his statement about Bush at the Brookings Ins ution in July 2003:
‘The president of the United States is a bold leader and he is popular.”
But it’s the tip of the iceberg.
brazen pro-war falsehoods, with
Biden claiming that Saddam Hussein ‘violated every commitment that he made.
He played cat and mouse with the weapons inspectors.
He failed to account for the huge gaps in weapons declarations
that were do ented by UN weapons inspectors and submitted by them to the UN Security Council in 1998, and
every nation in that Council believed he possessed those weapons at that time. He refused to abide by any conditions.’
It’s a pack of lies.
fitting that the Biden camp has put out Kerry on this issue
since Kerry’s falsifications regarding Iraq are remarkably similar to Biden’s.
Kerry might be the Democratic senator whose record helped the Iraq war as much as Biden’s.

i did like how joe biden tried to spin his way of his iraq support yesterday ...
yes i voted for it, but i was also vp for a man who opposed it, so that cancels out lolz
So Biden is a piece of . Warren is a piece of . Bernie is a piece of . Tulsi is a piece of .
That narrows the field.
And Trump is an overflowing Porta Potty.
So... it disqualifies... maybe Putin from running.
Bernie > Trump
Less Zionist shilling and war mongering tbh..
Did he grab her by the pussy?
You're hoping to get grabbed by the pussy tonight at your tranny club.
Thanks for your input.
who's any good in your book?
Don't forget the well being of MBNA
Repeating yourself does not refute the man's record.
He wanted to cut Social Security. He 's GOP style tuff on crime. Even now he says he can do busines with Mitch McConnell and will appoint Republicans to his cabinet.
He's an idiot.
She seems pleased that Creepy Joe is kissing her.
Did she say "Get away from __" before the sound cut out?
Can you imagine if Trump did this? There would probably be an inquiry and a trial after wall to wall media coverage. Creepy Joe got that VIP pass when it comes to cable news networks. Same as Hillary and anyone else who raises money for the DNC.
Stormy Daniels and that super skank liarwyer Avenatti.
What's the story on Shifty Schiff and Ed Buck the predator of black homeless men? CNN doesn't seem to be running it.
