After all the work Marks did to get draft picks back to BKY I am legit shocked he gave those picks away. I mean, wow. It could work out but holy heck.
I know right!? Plus they were one of the feel good stories in the NBA this season and they basically could be changing their roster quite a bit

The cost to open up cap space only goes up when there are less teams with space to dump onto, and more teams looking for space. The Hawks are one of the few with space that isn’t planning on using it.

Nets were smart to make the move now while also preventing another team from using that ATL space.

They can now get 2 max level players. Any pick below 3rd has zero value, from this POV.
Feelgood stories don't win anything, though. Looking at where they were two seasons ago, hats down to their FO

Okpala at his very best probably is not as good as Prince. I'm not even convinced Okpala would be a good G-Leaguer ... much less an average-ish NBA player.

True ... not a big Okpala fan.

But Prince is also a year away from RFA and is gonna get a fat offer sheet in excess of what he’s worth. So you have one offseason with him cheap plus maybe the start of 2020 free agency with a low cap hold. That doesn’t really fit the Spurs well as Murray will also be up for a big pay raise and Mills still on the books (and Poeltl a RFA too).

I’d rather have three additional cheap years on a rookie deal on a guy who may never be as good and have more flexibility.

Honestly, might wanna consider bringing Dedmon back. We need a stretch 5.

That bridge is burned by Dedmon so badly that it doesn’t even exist.

Yeah, drafting Fernando seems to be a better choice in this area.

Any interest in Kevon Looney? Seems like a solid backup for LMA/Pueltl

For that minimum salary contract he's on, he's definitely worth at least a serious look.

just as sf/pf Aminu/Stanley Johnson, Hezonja, Mk Kinnie, Hood, Bullock, M. Morris, Carroll, Dudley, M. Milliams and Kidd Gilchrist (if they renounce their p.o.), Finney Smith, Lyles, Jerebko, G. Green, D. Green, D. House, T. Young, B. Bogdanovic (unlikely, too good of a season), W. Chandler, J. Holiday, B. Caboclo, N. Mirotic, P. Patterson, Tolliver, Ross, C. Brewer, Oubre (unlikely, see above), Mc Cow, Sefolosha, J. Parker, T. Ariza, J. Green, T. Satoransky, S. Dekker

Yes, I really like his game. He is always in the right spot. Just not a great shooter.

does anybody think it would be possible for us to get one of the older combo forwards (Carroll, Ariza) for the room exception of 4.7 million?

    Maybe... but
    a) It only takes 1 other gm wanting a "name" veteran to screw something like that up,
    b) do we really want them? Consider the following comparison
    https://www.boxscoregeeks.com/player...20&season=2018
Can you really expect them to do much better than Cunningham and Pondexter did last year? I'm not sure paying the extra money is worth it.
    c) Thus, I'd probably look to younger players - David Nwaba maybe...

I take it you didn't look at that comparison, where they did worse per minute than Dante and QPon did last year. And now they are going to be a year farther into physical decline...

I could see the Spurs using the MLE on Sefolosha though. I wouldn't be terribly upset either.

Wouldn't be to happy myself, he's 35 and I don't see Vince Carter.
