I've been wanting to expand my knowledge of jazz anyway, which is way too restricted.
......which is saying he wants to learn the music. Well, that means you go back to the roots of it all and work your way up to Miles Davis, and yes you start in 1917 with the first jazz on record. Just like ya start in 1920 and "Crazy Blues" as the first blues on record (sorta). Everything starts somewhere, so a student would want to go there.
I could teach ROOTS MUSIC but it would be more about actually listening to that music than lectures/reading.
