I didn't make any comment about what free speech is.
I did because you brought it up.

Nothing about what they do is about free speech because there is no guarantee of free speech on YouTube and never has been.

it's not free speech when you're using someone else's service.

You can get banned from SpursTalk for saying the wrong thing.

YouTube and Twitter don't want that on their services. I don't blame them.
Sure. But we’ve gotten to the point where a few corporations dominate the space where the large majority of people get their news. And it’s easy to have no issues with them banning hate videos. But when they start banning videos (or tweets or whatever) based on political, moral, etc. views, then it does become, as Nathan said, Orwellian. And potentially a source of government control.

It's not Orwellian because it's not government.

If you want big daddy government to come in and say what YouTube can or can't delete, you're asking for the Orwellian state you're acting like your against.

Not really. If the government stepped in to ensure that people were not being censored based on their beliefs, then it wouldn’t be Orwellian at all. But that won’t happen. One thing Bouts gets right is the government letting BigCorp get away with whatever they want. Whether it’s Monsanto, Pfizer, or Google.

    How would that happen?

Describe the law you're calling for.

They can certainly restrict or delete content on their own service, derp.

Take a break from your meltdown and make your case why you think they can't.

I mentioned free speech as it relates to gab. It's basically their mission and reason to exist. Subs ute that for anti censorship platform. Regardless when people try to introduce pro speech platforms that are against censorship the industry self protects. They utilize many methods beyond what I mentioned.

Where did I call for a law? My opinion is that if effectively total control of media ends up in the hands of a few corporations, then it’s dangerous.

    Do you disagree with that?

If that actually happened, yes. I don't accept that it's anywhere near total now.

What is your governmental solution, if any, to the current situation on YouTube?

So raise a stink when that happens, not when they're banning Nazis and phobes.

So you agree with me when I say YouTube can control the content on their service.

    Now what?

I never called for a government solution. You brought that up. I don’t have any problem with them banning hate speech.

I didn't say you did. But you brought up a slippery slope argument referencing a troubling future where such a stink would be warranted. It is not warranted at this time, so this thread is silly.

You should be laughing at yourself for thinking “Orwellian” is a term exclusive to government.

You’re naive if you want to wait until it’s a problem before discussing it.

What's to discuss? Has anyone claimed they'd be okay with YouTube banning content for non-hateful political views?

This is akin to saying we should discuss bestiality and pedophilia if we're going to allow the gays to get married.

The "victim" that caused the drama is an advocate for corporate censorship. Disgrace to the country.
