Pels are gonna draft either Culver/Garland at #4 or shop the pick. They had to do this trade now to have #4 in their back pocket to either draft a player another team wants (to obtain even more assets) or keep the pick. Had to make the trade now to make that option happen is my best guess.
If they’re able to sign another max player before executing the Davis trade then they’ll be in a great position imo and can fill out the rest of the roster just fine. Irving makes a lot of sense for them if he hasn’t already decided on Brooklyn imo because they’re already log jammed at forward and center with Lebron Kuzma and AD.
