Today marks it. Crazy how time flies. Got nostalgic watching the clips so figured I’d make a thread about it (offseason..).
If you’ve got an hour to kill... this brought back some memories tbh
Crazy to think Luka Samanic and Keldon Johnson weren’t even born yet tbh
Watched it in my living room off vance jackson with my cousins.... When avery hit that corner jumper, I could not believe it was finally happening.... Sprewell getting trapped. Under the basket then his despererate turnaround fade away.... We no longer had the stigma of being "soft" "wannabes" san antonio was on the map! We headed downtown and partied with the rest of the 210 until 5 am... Who would have known that night the level of success the San Antonio Spurs would have 5 banners later... Great memories.... With plenty more to come! Go spurs go
Damn I'm getting old. I was still in Germany and had just come home from a deployment in Albania. The game ended around 3 or 4 AM local time. The only Spurs fan around.. sure wish I coulda been in SA that day.
I don't think enough attention was paid outside of the fan base how special and redeeming this le was for The Admiral. In fact, I always thought Avery Johnson got more attention about it. The Admiral went through a lot of prior to this le. It wasn't just due to carrying a bunch of scrubs for most of his career and enduring tough playoff losses where he had to do everything for the team, but because of endless bull and petty smack talk from Shaq and an unfair "choker" label that was mostly the fault of the front office not helping him out before TD and PATFO came along to fix things. Even though Phil Jackson tried his best to diminish it, it was still a great moment for us fans, the franchise, and The Admiral more than anything.
You do the Lord's work.
That greeting at the airport when they landed will forever be ingrained in my mind.
A great moment. They finally kicked the door in. So happy for Big David. That defense was sick. And young Timmy with those live legs just about unstoppable. Happy tears that night.
Never seen that photo. Pretty badass.
The pic of Tim and DRob with the throphies in the first tweet...Can't imagine someone that deserved more it -at that point of his career- than David Robinson.
"Did the San Anponio Spurs win the championship?!?!"
Sucks that I was 5 when the Spurs won the first le, and only remember bits and pieces of life before 9/11
