Yeah, at this point Carroll is more of an ilusion of a 3 and D player than a reality, but at least he isn't Cunningham or Pondexter. Hopefully PATFO can find the next Danny Green to mold into that real 3 and D player we so desperately need but for the time being Carroll should do.
I think that was kind of the point of drafting Keldon Johnson, wasn't it?

Johnson doesn't have the size needed.

IMO it’s a good signing for what was out there. Aminu was gone and so was Young, so I’ll take Carroll. He brings some length and size to our team that’s filled with some undersized guards. We basically needed someone to spot Rudy a couple breathers a game and I think Carroll can provide that and then some.

To be a 3 and D wing? Nonsense.

Danny Green had a 6'10 wingspan and a 8'7 standing reach
Keldon Johnson has a 6'9.25 wingspan and a 8'8 standing reach

Danny Green couldn't guard the Durants, Lebrons, Georges, Giannises and Kawhis of this World.

"Any" difference? Depending who guards those guys you can find many differences. If Lebron is guarded by Mills you will have a result, if he's guarded by Green another and if he's guarded by Kawhi another.

To guard those big SF's a 6'6" SG won't be enough most times.

The game has changed so much in the last 3-5 years that most those players play Power forward.

Eh, he's always been able to guard George well enough, and he'd probably be able to guard Leonard if they ever find themselves on opposite teams. He even used to be fine on Durant back in the day. Lebron and Giannis are both PFs who had the athleticism to warrant wing defenders. There's no shame in Green or Johnson not guarding those guys. That's what guys like Carroll are for.

Wow, the two best players in the NBA and the best defensive player in the NBA.

    That's one.

Now do the rest of the players you listed.

And what are PJ Tucker's measurements BTW?

    Thanks in advance.

That's exactly what I'm saying, but Pavlov got into his usual mind numbing arguative mode for some reason.

    Oh, so Carroll is fine.

    Problem solved, apparently.

Let us never speak of this again.

I think it's foolish to expect one guy to check all of those players. Maybe Pippen could. Maybe Leonard can. Maybe Hunter will be able to. But especially in the modern NBA, it doesn't make sense to have a designated "stopper" anyway. Just have good defensive players at all levels and a unit that understands the game plan and how to cover for each other. Johnson can do that and be just as big of a part of it as Murray, White or Poeltl. You don't put him on an island with James and Giannis and expect him to come out ahead, but you also don't avoid playing him at SF because he can't guard someone as big as Karl Malone or David Robinson. You put your power-forward on them and know that Johnson should be fine against the Middletons or Kuzmas of the world.

    Cool last second edit, tbh.

6'6" but thick like a PF. Still, he was the worst defender of the bunch.

    That's one.

Nop, I'm off to bed. i have to work tomorrow. Stay scratching that pathological arguative itch with someone else, tbh. Good night.
