Are you seriously unfamiliar with press releases?
You know every big company has entire public relations teams devoted to this stuff, right? It's been going on since the invention of the printed press. I understand the desire for more editorial oversight on releases like that but Amazon isn't even among the first 10,000 companies to have their release aired.
Don't watch much TV, tbh, maybe this is the norm these days. I thought there were rules about informercials, like having to disclose it was one, etc.
Normally, content is produced by the news show production, not the actual company. At that point, the difference between content and commercials is indistinguishable.
A Google spokesperson said in an email that it took action after determining the websites violated its policies on content related to race.
“We have strict publisher policies that govern the content ads can run on and explicitly prohibit derogatory content that promotes hatred, intolerance, violence or discrimination based on race from monetizing," the spokesperson wrote. "When a page or site violates our policies, we take action. In this case, we’ve removed both sites’ ability to monetize with Google.”
Basically caved to Google's demands so this doesn't really change matters tbh

Not sure how this is problematic, tbh, I'm 100% sure the Federalist agreed to be bound by Google's terms of service when they signed up for the ad network.
I'm sure it had nothing to do with him creating viral videos that reach millions of people.

Considering I see viral content that breaks the rules not get taken down I don't really think this is the deciding factor.
