    1. Rings are bad argument when your talk about team sports.
    2. Greatest defender? Better then Hakeem and and other bigs?
    3. Bird is better scorer, shooter, passer, playmaker, rebounder. Pip is better on fastbreaks and 1 on 1 defense. As a Kobe fan, you should also take into account that Bird is a go-to guy in the clutch.

    Verdict: Bird over Pip comfortably
Burd benefitted the same way Dad Killa did. What individual talent was there at SF really back then? Nique? No jumpshot Dr. J? Who was there back then to challenge him? Burd would be Chase Buddinger today's NBA

Yes, Pip is the greatest defender I've EVER seen. 2nd greatest was Worm. No disrespect to Dream who was a beast.

Burd was slow af back then. I'd love to see him get open to shoot vs premiere athletic players instead of plumbers, accountants, and subs ute teachers. FOH about Burd son

Pip's game translates to today's game. Burd not so much. Maybe he'd be a 3pt specialist but that's about it.

Why would Bird need to be athletic when today's NBA is a 3 point chucking exhibition?

    He was a dominant rebounder.

He needs to be able to get open to Jack up 3s. How can he get open when he's slower than frozen molasses.

Can't he just sit in the corner like everyone else?

Yep, sf position was loaded with talent during Pip's prime. And 90's talent wasn't any better than 80's, especially after expansion.
If Nash and Dirk were able to win mvp's in 00's, Doncic and Jokic are killing it today, I'm sure Bird would do fine. His game translale tremendousely too. He is like Dirk but with better, passing, rebounding and team defense. And Bird wasn't slow before injuries.
Bird had no problem's scoring over Pippen, Rodman, Jordan btw.
And, finally, Pippen wasn't nearly as dominant on d like dpoy-caliber bigs like Tim, Hakeem, Drob lol.

Even 38 year old Pip did a decent job on 21 year old Kobe in 2000 WCFs tbh.

Tru, but Pip was an athlete whose game would have translated to today's game. I believe Burd would have too a bit because he can shoot. But I don't think he's the HOF player if he played right now. Too many athletes in today's NBA IMHO for him to dominate like he did back in the day when the NBA was only 45% Black

https://youtu.be/xcXp3PSRGvw Bird could score from anywhere on the court in a variety of ways and with either hand. He would be a stretch forward in today's NBA and he would be dominant. Here he is lighting up what you say is the greatest defender of all time.

Because salaries were lower and it was shameful to be on welfare unlike today

I don't understand your argument. AAU didn't exist or Starks would have gotten secret Nike pay like they do now

    Expansion

Players who shouldn’t have been drafted ended up being drafted because spots to fill

On salaries : Starks didn’t bag groceries while he playing to meet ends, what are you talkIng about lol

In 90-91, bird was 34 years old and was beset by injuries.

Still, bird still scored 34 and 30 points in two of those games that season.

In their h2hs, when bird was already in the down slope of his career, bird averaged 26/8/6 on Pippen. And I agree Pippen was the best wing defender ever, just that bird was that good.

Lemme guess: Burd was your hero. Amirite? Tell you what, I'll upgrade his ceiling. He'd be Ryan Anderson in today's NBA

Is that better? No? Kyle KorverPERIOD. No more than det tbh.

Burd was great, no lie. But he was a Celtic, so I gotta give him the same treatment you farmers give Kobe

Don’t put bird and Kobe in the same paragraph. Bird was an original and there isn’t anyone like him. Kobe was a facsimile of a scanned coffee stained copy of a wannabe Jordan.

Bird was one point the true GOAT until injuries too him out. Kobe is a lucky recipient of food stamps from a desperate media.
