With the cataclysmic event of Andrew Cuck retiring, I think it's fair to start a new thread and to give everyone a second chance, now that we've passed the "dress rehearsal" 3rd week of the preseason and we can offer fair predictions.

How do you see the 49ers doing THAT well? I know they have Jimmy G and Kittle, and Shanahan is going to get his chance to shine... but what about that defense other than the starting DL?

I have them going 10-6 or 11-5 and just missing the playoffs due to being 3rd best in their division.

The reason I'm super high on Carolina this year is that it's an odd year and Cam Newton plays very well in odd years. Even years, not so much.

If the season was 82 games the 9ers go 82-0.

Yes indeed. I could definitely see a 2008 AFC West / 2010 NFC West / 2011 AFC West / 2014 NFC South like scenario playing out.

For example the ans don't really have a great team; their tackles are great but they have nobody to protect, and whoever is behind center has nobody that great to throw to these days. The defense lost pieces in the front 7 and is only solid on the back end.

The Texans are just too top heavy with talent and their RB1 is out for the season. Their OL is just ghastly; their starters were giving up easy meet-me-at-the-QB sacks and holding penalties to the Cowboys' 2nd and 3rd stringers all game. They have a future hall of fame WR1, just like the Andre Johnson days, but that just isn't enough. Watson is an average passer, slightly above average overall QB but is going to be very lucky to not get himself hurt again. Their secondary is almost as bad as the OL, sadly.

The Jaguars replaced Bortles with a less derpy version of Bortles, sadly. Foles has a reputation for being clutch, but ONLY in Philadelphia. With the Rams and Chiefs... nope. Fournette is toilet paper soft and one-dimensional, their offense won't be good, and their defense is still above average but not up to 2017 standards. Look for guys like Campbell to slow down. Telvin Smith is gone. Safety is a problem. So is DT, with Malik Jackson gone. They won't win many games with such a formula.

The Colts... well, we saw how they did with Jacoby Brissett in 2017, so expect similar results in 2019. Andrew Luck's presence masked a LOT of their problems last year, as he had in the past. He was the 4th or 5th best QB in the league yesterday, and today he's gone. Trying times in Indy. Hopefully they end up with Herbert, Fromm etc next year; their fans deserve it. (I'm already putting Tua in Miami because it seems like a perfect fit.)

I'm not seeing it, sadly. Foles as QB1 wasn't even good last year with the Eagles, and we all remember Foles with the Rams. Their offense doesn't have enough overall talent and the defense is significantly diminished from 2017.

Am I right in guessing that they took away your thread starting privileges?

I didn't see any of your standard ranting threads during the CB game yesterday.

nope, you're incorrect, I can post threads just fine. I really don't spam rant much at all, especially compared to *some* people. Before last week it had been 2 years (to the week) since the last one of those type of episodes.

At this point I just laughed because I want the ginger got gone. If you saw my avatar/skin from this past week, and my posts in the W6 GT, you'll know I was clearly rooting for the Jets because it represented the fast track to getting Lady JaGa fired.

was mostly referring to the ans portion of that post, but yeah.

i think houston is the favorite to win it. colts are still solid with brissett, and ans have shown they can play good ball, but mariota has hamstrung them. tannehill is a marginal upgrade, they should have gone to him much sooner and allowed him to compete for the gig in the offseason. jaguars have disappointed

Very surprised how the Colts have gotten this far with a crappy backup QB, but they are very well coached just like the Eagles and they have a GREAT run game. That left side of the OLine is the best I've seen in years. Jaguars are about where I had them, I never saw them winning more than 5 games in the first place, especially with a backup.

I think ans should draft a new qb at this point. Mariota/Winston and the rest of that ty draft class will be career backups after this year. Just like how Bortles was a career backup after last year, not ironically 4 years after he was drafted just like Winston/Mariota now.
