Hey that's the Spurs formula. Get curb stomped in the 1st quarter and then spend the rest of the game clawing back to maybe squeeze out a win. Happened all the time with the Spurs last couple of seasons.

Since this is a consistent thing with the Spurs last couple of years and it also seemed to happen with team USA, it makes me think Pop is the reason. He is being too slow to recognize adjustments in the 1st quarter. Yes he adjusts after the 1st quarter but he is late to recognize things on the fly during the 1st quarter. Who knows maybe that's part of his plan to really see what hurts the team and let things fly as they are in the 1st no matter what then make adjustments later?

If that's really the plan seems kinda stubborn. Its almost like he has a template he follows and no matter what happens in the 1st quarter he follows a specific formula of when to make adjustments.
