Let's stipulate further that Y has some commodity has some commodity, call it Z, that is crucial to our independence that we are unable to produce on our own.
Would it be proper for Y to condition delivery of Z upon a request that we, X, prosecute political opponents of the President of Y, a foreign country?
To put it another way, should we allow a foreign country to suborn our justice system in order to get something that we really need?
If such a turn of events came to pass, what would you, a citizen of X, think of the leadership of your own country suc bing to extortion and a justice system that bends to foreign demands?
