The GOP cannot turn on Trump. Trump is exactly who Limbaugh, Hannity, and the rest of the right wing mass media have been conditioning their listeners to want for twenty years now, which is why the base is so fiercely loyal to him more than to any other Republican we have ever seen. If the GOP doesn't carry Trump's water they will lose his base for at least the 2020 election. The GOP convicting Trump would lead to a blue wave like we have never seen and total Democrat control of everything but the Supreme Court.
