I think the President was not served well by Nunes' opening. He's like a bad high school football coach, running the same playbook because it worked last time.

Yes, threats can be implicit, and understood by everybody without being explicitly ever stated.
Trump as dumb about things as he is, understands lawsuits from all the times he has been sued for various forms of fraud. I will give him that he may not have been quite so dumb as to make the order explicit.

Provide any evidence or testimony from any White house official about why the aid was being held up then.
If Trump was holding it up for some reason other than to use it for extortion, i.e. a valid U.S. interest, there should be evidence of that, such as a review of procedures meant to stem potential corruption.
You don't get to wave your arms and claim you have debunked my claim when you haven't done the work.
We have multiple witnesses all saying that the aid was extortion being used for a bribe of help with his reelection campaign. That was implicit and everybody knew it.
