The Celtics are a great study in how quickly some pretty good plans can fall apart. Bad luck was part of it with the Haywood injury, but the personality clashes/lack of anticipation that led to Al Horford & Kyrie leaving with no compensation at all are pretty drastic. I'm sure at one point Ainge was convinced he was one offer of draft picks & players away from landing Anthony Davis and putting a championship worthy team on the floor. Now, they're not even a Top 10 team.

He's a role player they just paid star money. Hield can at least bag you 20 PPG

Granted Brown has playoff experience and can guard better/more positions, but that's not worth paying him star money. He's like a more skilled PJ Tucker.

    They overpaid no doubt.
But I'd still rather have Brown he is potential high level 3 and D wing who is explosive attacking the rim. His shot is a work in progress but better chance of him improving his range than Buddy figuring out on defense... But hey, Buck Foston! I hope it's a disaster of a deal...

Sure, but they're not paying Buddy to be Patrick Beverley. They're paying him to withdraw them cash money jumpers like an ATM. Get buckets, baby. Fill seats. Guys like PJ Tucker/Brown can be had from the G-league.

should have traded his ass for big. Maybe Sabonis.

Hes too redundant for the celtics anyway.

Buddy Hield got 86 million and hield is a better player

Dude for someone who always complains about owners throwing around ridiculous money for borderline stars how can you justify that kind of money for someone borderline average at best? Ainge overpaid hugely, at least by $25 million, maybe $35 million even. LMAO @ Ainge wrecking what was once an incredible situation.

    No not saying that...
You are right... I hate these deals as a fan/owners perspective.
But from his side no way I'm taking less or the same as Buddy Hield. That is what I was saying. I wouldn't pay if I was Celts especially since Tatum needs that money and Hayward already making max.

Murray despite the injury signed a Spur friendly deal and you could argue he may be better longterm than either guy... That's a Spur win and a Klutch loss.

You said Boston had to earlier. No they didn't. They should have made him prove himself this year. Not like he could have walked when he would have been a restricted free agent.

I said that based on the fact that Hield who I think is solid but not great got that money. Celts were trying to get him at 4 for $80 million which is fair and reasonable when you look at it from our side...
But if I'm him I say that... Because of Hield.
I do wish teams would hold fast in these negotiations but most teams are pussy.

But again it's the Celtics glad they overpaid, them...

And if you're him, don't sign, and have another disappointing season and the market is only say $65 million after? Even $80 million seems a lot for Brown unless he has a breakout season this year.

Again we agree... But based on some flashes with team USA... He and the Celts are predicting a breakout.
Now to be fair... To Celts... As bad as the chemistry was last year having Brown trying to prove his worth when sharing wing duties with Tatum and Hayward is probably not the best way to cultivate culture...

Oh I agree a concern but not until next year...
He proves he is worth it on this team I'll gladly pay.
