agree but patfo wont do that as long as pop is a coach
Assuming the Spurs mediocrity persists...
Isn’t a trade with Portland a win/win for both teams? I saw the Spurs guarantee salary for LaMarcus Aldridge’s next year as an increase of his value for a new team. It’s obvious he’d want to be back at Portland if traded. The guts of the trade would be LMA with bench players as filler for Whiteside (expiring) and Nurkic. The trade makes Portland a top tier le contender for the next two years maximizing Lillard’s prime years. Spurs get a solid young big man in Nurkic to play with the younger guards. Spurs also get more cap room for the upcoming offseason to overpay Forbes and/or DeRozan.

wow trade lma to portland that has never been said
lma mills poetlt for hassan nurkic and little or just lma poeltl and a pick for hassan collins little
next step should be trading ddr for a 3andD player like f.e otto porter jr

So our best player for an injured 7ft, and headcase expiring center? me.
It doesn't help you if you're Portland because it still doesn't solve their deficiency in the 4 and 5 spot. If a trade to Portland is on the table then you got to take back Rodney good (no trade clause)and nurkic. But they only do this if they intend on keeping whiteside
"let's trade our old big man for Portland's younger big man who is better!"
yeah ok. they're not trading Nurkic for LMA
How is being a lottery team a win for the Spurs?
Now you've got Pops ear.
His leg fell off. Portland is losing games right now. I could easily see them taking that deal. I could not, however, see SA doing it.
Nurkic is just a younger dinosaur than LMA, but just as extinct nowadays.
Trading our best player to a team who won't give us more than 20 cents on the dollar? Been there, done that.
LMA's on court production is more valuable to the Spurs than anything he can bring back in a trade.
I'd trade for Whiteside because he actually might be the 1 guy to finally push Pop to retirement
It would make much more sense to trade DeRozan.
No....just no...
It’s fine trading him to POR just not for that package. Likely would need to be 3 teams and SA would need a first and at least Collins amongst other things.
I agree with trading LA. For the past 4-5 years, LA has been very inefficient in the playoffs. He once demanded to be fed very early in games in order to be effective. Spurs listened but it was just all smoke in the playoffs. I wished he would continue doing what Pop wanted him to do in the first two years with the Spurs.
Nah. He'll come back fine. Portland isnt going to mortgage their future big in exchange for an aging LMA to improve marginally now. leg break isnt that huge of an injury tbh, he'll come back fine after a full season
As much as I hate LMA we need him. We would literally have no valuable bigs on this team. The smarter trade is finding someone to take DDR so you can get LMA some help while allowing the young guards to flourish.
The point of the trade is to rebuild for the future with Nurkic and Luka as the bigs. Pair them with Murray and White as the nucleus going forward. LMA has maybe has two good productive years left. We were all spoiled with Duncan. We can’t expect that with LMA. I really like LMA, I would want to trade him to a good situation. I can’t see DDR getting anything great back in a trade. Obviously this would be a trade deadline move with the Spurs underachieving expectations.
LA has just 1 point after 3 quarters!?!?
ALL STAR XDD
