That, and 4 of their 5 O-line starters, and their kicker and punter... they don't have any white slot receivers or LBs though which is odd

How the does a fat ass 60 year old man like Reid manage to stay ahead of the curve? He is the offensive Belichick.

he was always ahead of the curve... McNabb had his accuracy issues for sure, but Reid loved the mobility. Westbrook would be the quintessential "modern" back. then he found LeSean McCoy

even when he got to KC his first order of business was to trade for Alex Smith. a QB who could extend plays. sure, jamaal charles fell into his lap, but he also found Kareem Hunt.

even going back to philly one of his big criticisms was that in big games he'd abandon the run too quick and throw too much, something he still has a tendency to do. he's always been the same. ST has always underrated the out of him.

He’s the best coach in the NFL not named Bill Belichick, imo. I thought hiring Spags was a bad decision but I was clearly wrong and imo he’s the best offensive mind out there.

i dont think spags is some poison pill DC... and they definitely had to make a change to somebody that wouldnt be historically awful like bob sutton had been. i think the mistake was dumping a first to upgrade from dee ford to frank clark while also paying clark.

but the honey badger has been a huge difference maker for them, tbh

Ford was a situational pass rusher who was historically terrible against the run to his side last year... there's a reason the 49ers only play him on passing downs. Clark has proved that he can stop the run + get 10+ sacks a year as a pass rusher.

I think the Chiefs wanted to completely overhaul the defense and remove the stink of being so awful last year. Dumping Justin Houston for nothing was also a questionable move but Spags felt he didn't quite fit his scheme and he was very expensive. At some point it was about changing the culture and that meant some sacrificial lambs.
