So you think Trump was stupid when he kept bragging about making ventilators for months after that?

    Yes or no.
    Yeah, that was dumb.

And if President Trump was still in there you'd be on the other side throwing rocks...

    "Oh, it's not safe."
    "Oh, I'm afraid."
"Oh, I think the world is going to end."
"Oh, I'm sensitive and my woo-woo hurts."
    "Oh, I hate this country."
    "Oh."

"Gov. Andrew Cuomo insists New York needs up to 40,000 ventilators for the coronavirus pandemic, despite President Donald Trump saying he doesn’t “believe” it’s true."

    Lol
You are laughing because early in the game we did not know how to treat people in hospitals?
Really? But you believe Trump knew?

Hospital admissions in Travis County are almost exactly the same they were a year ago today.

Most of the vaccines are very good.
We have come a long way and this virus, thankfully, is an "easy" one for vaccines. Because this virus is record breaking in its ability to infect.

Probably a combination of factors at work. True, we don't have 100% vaccination, but a very large percentage of vulnerable are vaccinated. We have had relaxed mandates for months, so people aren't as cautious. And, kids under 12 aren't eligible for the vaccine. And, the amount of testing is way down compared to last year. I doubt this increased positive test rate translates to much increase in hospitalization.

Hope that's the case but it's still only something like 70% of the 65+ vaccinated in Bexar County if I remember right. I'd be surprised if Delta doesn't lead to a decent bump in hospitalization and deaths, but doubt it'll get to where we were in the summer much less Thanksgiving to mid January.

We are paying the price due to the antivaccers.
This new form appears to be much more transmissible. And has much worse symptoms on younger folks than the original.
Luckily they wont be dying but the poor folks in the hospitals are having to go back to the bad times.

We have the solution but we pay for the ignorant. Education... Need to have a whole new curriculum in biology dealing with disease and the immune system. People just dont get it. This board has proved it.

Not sure about that. I lost a close friend pretty young about 3 months ago. Though that was the UK strain.

Between the vaccinated and naturally infected, we're probably in a good place. At least in Bexar. Probably the other major metros, too. I'm sure there are rural counties with low vax rates.

    How old?
The UK is bad. Very bad. Did this person have both shots?
I have a friend whos parents still have not gotten both in the UK. He is here and worries about them all the time.
Hid dad keeps going to the pubs and has made it through, so far... UK is behind in vaccination.

Which would make sense unless they have a meat factory.
