Thought it could have up to a 14 day incubation period? Or has that been shortened as we know more about the virus?
my understanding is that it can be way shorter than that, like 3-4 days.

    is that wrong?

U r vaxed right? Yup we all gone get it in the next 6 months
Probably a lot sooner than that based on how quickly the delta infections rose and fell in India.

Not delta. Symptoms 2-4 days after exposure.

    Welp, wish me luck

My wife came down with a runny nose today so she took a home COVID test, it was positive. Mine is too.

We've both getting PCR tests to confirm in the morning, but it's for pretty sure've got it.

I have no symptoms as yet, my sweetie just has a runny nose.
good luck to both of you.

my dad got it a few weeks ago. he was vaccinated with J&J, but he's also fat. he started off just having a cough on tuesday/wednesday, but wasn't "feeling sick". he still got tested and on thursday night found out he had tested positive. he was still feeling mostly ok during the weekend, but by monday he was starting to feel quite out of it. slept a ton, didnt have much appe e at all (which is astonishing, because he didnt get fat by accident). he was like that for a few days, started feeling better around the following weekend. by all accounts he's fully recovered now, haven't heard him complaining about lingering respiratory issues (though hes one of the "this is just a flu" types so he'd be the type to downplay his own symptoms to own the libs).

best bet is he had caught it the previous weekend, so something like 3-4 days before first symptoms, and about a full week before it got rough for him (but not rough enough to get hospitalized)

all that to say, glad none of you have anything serious yet, but keep your guard up.

Kind of surprised it's so much more effective at transmitting then, as the long incubation period for earlier strains was cited as a big reason they were so infectious.

Is your wife and your oxygen alright? My brother tested positive for COVID like a day before one of my mom's doctor's appointments last year so she asked her doc what to monitor and he said if oxygen gets to 92% or lower it's hospital time.

Guess its just better at attaching and replicating.

Curious, does Medicare B + G cover it?
Uncle Sam pays for the drug

The federal government covers the cost of the treatment, though some facilities around the country charge patients for administrating the medicine. Interested patients should consult with the facility offering the treatment and with their health insurance provider, if necessary. Tampa General provides it for free.
My guess is no out of pocket cost at official Texas infusion sites since Abbot is following DeSantis around like a puppy.

I could ask my wife but she's a Dr and doesn't know what anything costs, not even her own fees

It's not more effective at transmitting as in flying through the air, masks, etc. The asymptomatic infectious period is twice as long for Delta. So you have a few more days of spreading it around before you even know you have it.

My wife(also vaccinated) came down with cold like symptoms Sunday. Felt fine the last few days, but got tested anyway. Waiting on results.

I've heard the exact opposite. 3-4 days of incubation for Delta.

3-4 days until infectious is what I recall. As opposed to 6-7 for wild type.

Yeah they're still arguing that. Last one they had an epidemiologist on to discuss the word transmissible

Long story short, it means something different to big picture epidemiologists and micro-picture virologists.

    Hopefully its negative.

Its gonna be a pain having to tell family and friends if positive and she has seen people.
And then not getting to see people...
