Probably a lot sooner than that based on how quickly the delta infections rose and fell in India.

my dad got it a few weeks ago. he was vaccinated with J&J, but he's also fat. he started off just having a cough on tuesday/wednesday, but wasn't "feeling sick". he still got tested and on thursday night found out he had tested positive. he was still feeling mostly ok during the weekend, but by monday he was starting to feel quite out of it. slept a ton, didnt have much appe e at all (which is astonishing, because he didnt get fat by accident). he was like that for a few days, started feeling better around the following weekend. by all accounts he's fully recovered now, haven't heard him complaining about lingering respiratory issues (though hes one of the "this is just a flu" types so he'd be the type to downplay his own symptoms to own the libs).
best bet is he had caught it the previous weekend, so something like 3-4 days before first symptoms, and about a full week before it got rough for him (but not rough enough to get hospitalized)
all that to say, glad none of you have anything serious yet, but keep your guard up.
Kind of surprised it's so much more effective at transmitting then, as the long incubation period for earlier strains was cited as a big reason they were so infectious.
my life pattern so far is to seldom get sick, knock wood.
Is your wife and your oxygen alright? My brother tested positive for COVID like a day before one of my mom's doctor's appointments last year so she asked her doc what to monitor and he said if oxygen gets to 92% or lower it's hospital time.
Guess its just better at attaching and replicating.

It's not more effective at transmitting as in flying through the air, masks, etc. The asymptomatic infectious period is twice as long for Delta. So you have a few more days of spreading it around before you even know you have it.
