And the "getting a voter ID is easy" crowd should probably sit out of a fest about having to get a free vaccine.

Nobody is saying getting a vaccine is difficult. I mean maybe the democrats don't think minorities are capable but I haven't seen that commentary yet.

I've always said I think private businesses should be able to decide their own vaccine policies, and that goes both ways. So I don't like it.

If you're going to mandate the vaccine, mandate the vaccine. Don't put the onus on businesses.

I would rather see this done through pressure in other areas - Higher premiums, hospital access restrictions, vaccine requirements for large events, etc. This feels like a half-assed and passive approach.
What kind of hospital access restrictions did you have in mind?

A good start would be that hospitals are required to leave a certain % of their ICU beds open for non-COVID emergencies, with exceptions made for COVID emergencies involving a vaccinated person.

Generally I'm all for the rights of the unvaccinated to kill themselves and each other, but steps need to be taken to prevent them from exhausting all of the resources from others.

probably already happening in places like Idaho, Hawaii and OK that have declared crisis standards of care.

a number of other states are getting close to that threshold.

You can fix 90% of this problem by requiring vaccination proof before collecting federal benefits, tbh...

So you think companies are going to convert W2 employees to 1099 contractors AND give them a raise?

Not a raise. Contractor rate is higher thats the market price as they save on benefits. Again both parties have to agree. Noone is saying 100% peep can do this.
