As a donor, I find it unbelievably stupid to not get all the vaccinations I could before getting a kidney and starting an indefinite regime of immunosuppression. It would have been a condition of my donation were this disease a thing at the time.

Transplant teams can use a lot of different information to decide against a transplant. The viability of the organ, the lifestyle of the recipient, the age of the recipient..

None of these are evil. They have to consider who else needs the organ who is complying with health advisories.

But I have to wonder who is afraid of a vaccine but ok with a transplant. Do they realize the amount of they will be injected with to prevent rejection?

We have investigated a nosocomial COVID-19 outbreak involving the SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant among a highly vaccinated population. The attack rate among exposed individuals reached 23.3% in patients and 10.3% in staff, with 96.2% vaccination rate among exposed individuals. Moreover, several transmissions probably occurred between two individuals both wearing surgical masks, and in one instance using full PPE, including N-95 mask, face shield, gown and gloves.
