Great. Now they think the vaccines may not work against the new South African strain.
Three US states are currently operating under crisis standards of care -- aka healthcare rationing. Been that was in Idaho for over two months.
When's the last time that happened?
Great. Now they think the vaccines may not work against the new South African strain.
Nothing new there, virus mutates and we adapt our vaccines...
Omicron COVID-19 variant: Pfizer, BioNTech say vaccine could be reworked in 100 days to counter strain

I have had covid already, had the first two Pfizer six months ago and about to do the Moderna booster. Not because Biden asked me but because I try to follow the science.
Meh
Scaremongering mostly
They went from 200 cases a week to 2000+ in one week. Sounds like a pretty nasty mutation. It lost the e identifiers the vaccines target..
Lol Liz wheeler
Lol Bleke
The science says you are one of the most protected people on the planet and you don't really need a booster. Then again, it's free and there haven't been any safety issues so no reason not to get it.
One bit of science that says you should get it is Shane Crotty's work showing repeated exposure to the e (virus or vaccine) builds the "library" of antibodies against future variants. Every time your immune system sees the e protein it gets better at anticipating how it is likely to mutate and produces antibodies to those future possible mutation. Pretty cool that evolution has taught our immune system to anticipate evolution.
ppffft.. evolution. If we came from monkeys why are there still monkeys? Ever ask yourself that? Why not ask yourself that?
JFC right after we finally got kind of out of the delta wave.
Jesus wanted humans but also liked monkeys
Relatively unvaccinated areas are reservoirs for the emergence of new variants. Protecting monopoly profits rather than waiving IP rights and ramping up production and distribution for “the rest of the world” was short sighted.
There are limited doses available. Instead of sending them to the rest of the world we are injecting ourselves over and over because we believe the vaccines work but not with conviction. Jab me again Mr. Fauci just in case.
Bend over, I'll jab you again just in case.
I didn't realize vaccines shut down mutations. Cool story.
Kind of amazing how more transmission leads to more variants more quickly. Who would have guessed?
Wouldn't you worry more about a variant from a highly vaccinated area?
Delta was already the dominant strain everywhere in the world. More transmission gives more replication gives more chance for mutations, in this case ones that built off delta.
Lol wut?
Darrin is a variant of derp
