One variable explains everything for Darrin. He's allergic to complexity.

Still not sure why public health policy doesn't count at all for him.

South Korea and Taiwan did well in large measure because they hindered transmission, thus managing the caseload.

That's no reason not to try to prevent transmission and disease, tbh. Should we ditch municipal health codes because they don't eradicate endemic disease?

The danger of breakthrough infections with Omicron appears to be significantly higher than Delta.

    Good luck.

What explains why Taiwan is doing so much better than South Korea?

Full disclosure: Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan are all doing remarkably well
I haven't tracked Taiwan, do tell.

What I can tell you is that Taiwan only has slightly lower (13.9 vs 15.1) percentage of their population that is 65+, so whatever the difference is certainly not just age-related.

Why are Japan and India doing so good? That should be the question.
India wasn't doing so great not that long ago. They had their "Italy moment". To a lesser degree, the same can be said about Japan right before the Olympics.

Countries doing better than the US doesn't mean they're doing "so good". The US has been pretty darned terrible at pandemic response.

I think Ivermectin and Fluvoxamine are good therapeutics. The Pfizer drug, paxlovid, also good.

    Merck drug, malnupiravir? Meh
