Have no fear, Thread. Just tell them "my body my choice". Most people will be willing to take the test but I know a non insignificant portion won't. If you encounter someone that tests positive and are unwilling to take the test you'll probably need to self isolate to make sure. The system doesn't have to be air tight. It just needs to prevent the hospitals from getting rushed. An "air tight" system like China is not even preferable.

I think even the most ardent conservative will agree with flattening the curve. Where conservatives do have a point, though, is I don't think a state like Utah needs to be under the same restraints as New York. Many of those sparsely populated, Midwest and warmer Southwest states rely on "mainstreet" for pretty much everything. Even a one month lockdown where only "essential" businesses are allowed to operate could economically destroy many of those communities. I can empathize with there concerns here.

I generally agree that a federal lockdown likely does not make sense, and it should be handled locally as much as possible. That said, some of those sparsely populated areas are also likely at a high risk of collapsing their health services quicker, so it's a balancing act.

Can you reach out to your doctor? If you can, tell him/her about your situation, they should be able to direct you on what to do. You can also call the ER beforehand.

It's just the common flu/cold. Just whether the storm, drink lots of Vitamin C, put some garlic & turmeric on your food and you'll be fine. Drink lots of water. Don't call your doctor unless you start getting pneumonia cuz you'll end up in a FEMA camp where they will tell you are positive and you will be wasting your time.

We need some fear mongering to get people to at least take precautions. Which is needed to flatten the curve while not locking everyone down. A temporary shutdown gives everyone across the country notice and encourages those precautions.
